Lag isn't just seeing stuff happening randomly like you getting smashed when the enemy is on the other side of the screen or whatnot.
As soon as the match starts, pressing any button or movement of the stick causes a noticeable delay from what you see on screen. You're telling me, when you played online, the game feel is EXACTLY the same as it felt offline or you just don't know?
It happens to me all the time even offline and even happened to me on the wiiu version to the point where I never played it again.
I attribute it to me just being trash. I'm used to technical fighters. pulling off crazy buttons combos, having to enter sequences of buttons to pull off moves and combos. Meticulously as a piano player would be on the keys or a guitar player. No mashing buttons. Smash aint like that , never has been. It's like once you start something the character doesn't stop until the move is over or they are hit or blocked.
Not sure who or what you played in Smash but Smash, especially Melee has never been slow. Smash Brawl was the slowest and most floaty Smash game but this one isn't slow. I think you just again like you said haven't really clicked with it.Imo and experience which I attribute to me being trash transitions are not seamless.
Like you know what you want to do within a millisecond. For instance to block, high punch, low kick or sweep. If you've played fighters for years this should be something that's really kind of easy to pull off. And even something like block, punch block. Smash Bros seems slow to me it doesn't really compute all the inputs at least all the time for me, I don't know how much is the game and just me being trash.
