You dumb nikkas have no idea how the box office works. SS over performed throughout the week. It had the highest Monday in August ever and the highest Tuesday ever. That combined with it debuting in monster fashion $133.6M leads to a big drop on the second weekend. Civil War dropped about 60%. The last Harry Potter movie dropped more than that. It's on t's way to approximately $300M domestic alone.

Oh and it's very unlikely Sausage Party is finishing #1. I guess it could but the Friday number included previews from Thursday. About $3.3M. So in reality SS made $3M more on it's actual Friday.

Guys "SP" Split "SS" audience on the 2nd weekend. It's the same demographics (Male driven). Competition was also stiff for it this weekend. It's not going to quite be a 70% drop. Probably 65-67% drop. That still keeps it on track for 300 Million Domestic and over 650-700 WW. Mind you they are still trying to get a China release which the country hasn't approved. To get over 600 without China is very good in this new Box Office era. "Deadpool" did very well without China as well. Again nobody predicted that SS would open this huge so it's already ahead of the game on numbers. It's numbers this weekend look like "Normal" August numbers so basically this weekend just brought it down to earth. As for "SP" it's a rated-r computer film which has never been done. So the numbers are solid but it's clear there was rush factor because these drops are hard for it this weekend. Also I broke down in the "SS" thread why the (3x Budget) debate was little overblown. If it was true studios would never had any money and movies would never be getting made. The fact is (2x Budget) is when they start to see options for profit through multiple revenue streams (Home Video, Streams, Television Rights, Mechendising, etc).

Non-Warner Bros. box office analysts had Suicide Squad in the low $50M range heading into this weekend, but Sausage Party stole a big chunk of the DC villain’s holdover crowd. Sausage drew mostly guys at 57% with an even split in the over/under 25 demo. Suicide Squad is looking at $43.77M in its second go-round, a steep -67% that’s not that far from Batman v. Superman‘s -69% drop.
Suicide Squad rose 34% between Friday and Saturday to $17.9M, while Sausage Party, because of its front-loaded tendency eased -15% from $13.48M on Friday to $11.4M. With an R-rated animated comedy that’s loaded with sex, yes, late night business was strong for Sausage Party.
