there's no way to spin it, the film was a financial success in spite of the critics. it did come out at the end of the summer though.

however i am curious to hear your theory. if this film held up against the bad reviews then why do you think the drop so comparatively steep with bvs?

I think it held up due to the more light heartedly wit tone I guess . Plus I think to be honest i think more people liked B vsS than we like to think and they saw all the bad reviews and saw the movie and was like . The critical response to both these movies have you thinking they are the spirit or sin city 2 level bad when that's an exaggeration. Most people I know either thought BVSs was just ok or good no one really was like traaaaaaaaaaaaaash !!!! The blu-Ray sales seem to back that up

Neither movie is perfect and my 4 fav recent comic movies are MOS, IM , GOTG and TWS. ( now I'm adding SS) but they are simply flawed movies like a bunch of movies before it not the movie antichrist
