Hmm so Black Widow did better and chick is suing because they robbed her?
I watched The Suicide Squad and it was very intertaining. Too bad I didn't wait about a week because i am betting that mid week matiness of this will be empty.

She got screwed because the backend of her deal is/was determined by box office performance. Disney Premier doesn't count towards box office numbers I don't believe, so technically you are giving her the short end of the stick. WB has been working out deals with talent to make up for the dual release, which is something that Disney doesn't seem too keen on doing.

The hybrid release is fine. The problem will be determining exactly how much many subscribers are these films individually bringing in to justify the cost of creating them. That goes for every streaming service not named Disney. At least Disney has some sort of blueprint of figuring it out by selling certain films individually and I think other services will eventually follow suit.

How do they have it figured out? Black Widow cost a lot to make. They still gonna lose money. Not enough people paid the $29.99

Figured out as in they know an exact number of how many people actually paid the $29.99 to see Black Widow, which WB doesn't have the luxury of doing with their films. They can't tell you how many people actually paid to watch Suicide Squad on HBO Max. That's why contracts are going to need to be tailored in the future to account for dual releases.

The "free" plan has only been committed to through 2021 for HBO. Beyond that they wanted to see if theaters would be back at full capacity. Appears that Delta gonna cont. to be a problem tho..

No one was really clamoring for a Suicide Squad remake less than 5 years after the OG one. Don't think it would have did numbers regardless but the HBO Max thing couldn't have helped either. Like why would i pay to go see a movie when i already pay for the streaming service that it will come on? Nothing beats the theater experience but with mass shootings and pandemics and with TV's getting bigger and better more people will continue to stay home and eventually the days of the billion dollar blockbusters will be over I believe.

I'm guessing that Delta is going to spook Sony into delaying Spiderman: No Way Home until next year especially considering that they're still not finished with filming a few months before release. That's really the only film left on the schedule this year that I can see doing some semblance of big numbers based on the hype surrounding it. Only problem is that you don't know when theaters will be back to full capacity and normal again.

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
Nobody cares about DC

But even if people do... if you got HBO and it's already on there, WHY would you pay to see it in theaters?

Do these studios think people still use these to watch TV?

You can buy a 70 inch 4k tv for under $500. If studios want people to come see their product, stop releasing it on streaming platforms.
