Drake and Lil Wayne 30 for 30

The pen is working if you nikkas need some ghost lines
I thought you wanted yours like I want mine
I guess you just making moves on your own time
But just know it'll be January in no time
And your absence is very concerning
It's like you went on vacation with no plan of returning
shyt is purely for sport, I need it 30 for 30
Banners are ready in case we need to retire your jersey

Luckily, I'm great at avoiding distraction
Used to get no reaction, now I'm overreacting
Ah nikka, that shyt gotta go platinum
I just listened to Closer To My Dreams
Wide eyed and uneducated at 19
I can't rap like that, all young and naive
Not after all of the shyt I've seen and the things I believe
Drastically changing, thank you for all your patience
I'm just in a different space and I choose to embrace it
4, 000 Square feet just isn't as spacious
You loved me back in the basement, guess it is what we make it
I'm tired of awkward exchanges and nikka's crooked ways
Tired of champagne toasts with people that look away
Peyton and Eli when nikkas called me they brother the season start
And I don't wanna see you end up with nothing
Y'all throw the word "family" around too much in discussion
Rookie season, I would've never thought this was coming
They knees give out and they passing to you all of a sudden
Now you the one getting buckets
They put their arm around you, now you becoming the crutches

What happened to the things you nikkas said was supposed to happen?
Are we just supposed to ignore the fact that it never happened?
We just supposed to get the pie and then split it in two?
Supposed to forget your mistakes but not forget about you?
My plan was always to make the product jump off the shelf
And treat the money like secrets, keep that shyt to ourselves

Definitely Lil Wayne shots...

Then Cube turned around & had a cameo in Let Me Ride, that's what confused me.

The Chronic was recorded when Dre was still AWOL from Ruthless and he had never responded to Cube and Dre Day was one big reply to everyone who had dissed him over the last year or so. Only person who got a pass were Ren.

But Cube & Dre peaced it out after The Chronic was released and that's why it was big that Cube was in ths video for Let Me Ride. They started promoting the Helter Skelter duo album.

Above the fray.
I've heard somewhere DMX was dissing LOX on Trina Moe off his 4th album.

Aight, let's ask the streets: How many sold?
What? Three nikkas, three months to go gold?
It seems unbelievable beacause The LOX appeared on every DMX album but not on The Great Depression :ohhh:

this was a real jab.... x uses drugs...was probably paranoid about something or that Jada was crowned king in the streets in that era

This was a jab that wasn't meant to be caught by fans but aimed DIRECTLY at the target.

In the Can-i-bus/LL feud, L's song "the ripper strikes back" had these lines

Career be over next year, yeah I said it/
Look over your shoulder N, that's where you're headed/

He's shytting on the last rapper who dissed him on record......& telling Canibus that he's going to end up flopping just like the other guy, once the hype is over.

Who was the other guy?...and what was the flop?

I don't know how long DMX had that verse, though.

Y'all gotta remember, the original even had a west coast/Tupac diss in there. He coulda been sitting on that verse for years.

Hip Hop have seen many beefs between friends like NWA (Eazy vs Dre, Ice Cube vs everybody), Dogg Pound, DMX and Ja Rule, Biggie and Pac.
Did I miss Prodigy and Havoc or it wasn't that serious?

difference is that nether X or Lox split from the Ruff Rydas though. Examples you gave are from people separating or dissolving friendship.

I always felt the mobb deep beef was to make them relevant to the social media new age generation.

the funniest and best jabs are when label mates go after each other. Def Jam artists are notorious for this..because the label hops on bandwagon of whoever is the hottest artist on roster and devote resources to their projects

Whole song is a diss towards the original Brooklyn Zoo, who Dirty was beefing with over the name.

"Introducing.... yo, fukk that nikka name"

"I never been tooken out by a nikka who couldn't figure how to pull a fukkin gun trigger"

"You wanna react? Bring it on baaaack :umad:"

"shame on you when you step through to The Ol Dirty b*stard....... Brooklyn Zoo! (emphasis on the name)"

ooohhhh X put em in a body bag

only thing is the timelines dont match... if X battled dude at a def jam x mas party.... get at me dog was written before X was on def jam... he actually got his deal by rapping get at me dog with his jaw wired for lyor
X has songs from the early 90s that have lyrics that ended up on his first album or so...sometimes lyrics stick around and dont get changed.

"And I ain't gotta suck dikk to sell records
get all outta character and scream and yell reckless
Listen to me; I'm the cat that'll sit in a tree
And shoot the dog in the head while he shyttin and pee"
