I cant remember who it was out of you two but I made a post a while back about BIG on LAD being way ahead of Jay in that era as far as the whole package including lyrically and yall made a rebuttal of no, he wasnt so I went back and listened to RD and Vol.1, 2, 3

I have to concede that Jay was always a stronger lyricist on paper than Biggie, it was BIG intangibles and the pockets he could catch (which imo no one still can do better) that put him over the edge but early Jay was a demon.... its him, Raekwon or Push/Malice as far as drug bars and criminal minded introspection imo
It was probably me, I always thought Jigga was a better lyricist. That doesn’t necessarily mean he was a better overall rapper though (I think he was but that’s madd debatable) because of all of those intangibles you mentioned. Biggie had all different types of flows and could rock any kind of beat/song and had the ill fat Brooklyn grimy but suave nig aura, lol, etc… I can see why a lot of people fukk with Big more than Jayz tbh, I just don’t think he was touching peak Jayz with them lyrics…and LAD is a Top 5 rap album ever for me, better than any Jayz album, imo.

Facts but even then I gotta admit, Jay was never beneath BIG at anything... for Notorious Thugs you could go with Jigga What? And fr fr Hov killed that fast flow harder imo.. player shyt like Get Money? OK Jay has Who You Wit, Imaginary Player... Suicidal Thoughts? Hov has D'Evils.. I could go on

I was a huge Jay stan before but I gradually listened less and less, that debate with you got me back on point and I really would be fukking lying if I came on here and kept acting like Jay-Z isnt super elite, shyt is corny to downplay dude. Appreciate being able to discuss hip-hop lyricism with other heads like this still :salute:

Also Styles lowkey a hating ass nikka :mjlol:
I know in his heart of hearts he probably feels like him and Kiss >>> Jay-Z
