Is there anything else to talk about? I dont blindly root for teams. If Tebow was still with the Jets I'd be eviscerating their front office just the same.

you have an 82 game season with a team with an obvious ceiling and no draft picks. You can dissect every game but we know how the seasons going to end anyways.

The Knicks need a coach who's going to challenge Melo and until that happens its going to be rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic. He has way too much control within the organization.

Those players won't get max levels all. They might get mini-max deals (in the case of Aldridge, Granger) or they may take less money to play in a similarly competitive situation (in the case of Bosh, coming off 2 rings). I don't know where all this "shut the fukk up" is coming from. Melo takes up a lot of salary for a player who hasn't shown he wins at the level of people who command similar dollars. And he'll be on the wrong side of 30 when he demands this deal.

You don't know what a mini-max is, and how it's valued against the cap. The years may be shorter, but the money is the same. It doesn't add up. period.

He's already doing to the NYK organization what he did to Denver, which is to be expected. He gotta get his and that's his leverage. But it doesn't put me, as a fan, in the best place because he hasn't delivered Ewing-level wins. It seems like we need to re-evaluate the market and our strategies for getting to the top.

You wanna say this? Fine. You wanna say that Melo isn't the way to go, and the Knicks should go back into rebuilding? Or flush it and try their hand at the free agent market again? Ok.

I think people forget that LeBron didn't even give us a sniff when he was available. Chris Paul wasn't interested. We had to settle for Amar'e. STAT made us relevant, paired with some young talent, and got us a shot at Melo.

In two years, we're gonna have most of this money off the books, and they'll have a decision to make: Start over, or clutch to what's left of a playoff team.

Which route has the Knicks Organization historically gone for?

You're having two separate conversations right now:
1) The Knicks can sign a bunch of top-tier free agents if they don't sign Melo... This is incorrect.
2) Carmelo Anthony isn't worth 25 Million per year. This is a valid concept, argued poorly by... well, you.

The fact is, within basketball - you have to replace production. Danny Granger can not replicate Melo's production. And he's got a major knee surgery, and possible degenerative issues on his docket, which Melo does not. LaMarcus Aldridge is a very good power forward who doesn't impact the game defensively enough to be considered an elite player. Chris Bosh is straight up not a no. 1 option. Never has been. Can't be. Won't be. Rondo can't be the best player on a successful nba team, he can't score consistently on his own.

I'm willing to entertain a melo convo that makes sense. Always have been. I'm not in love with his game. I was calling for full rebuilding YEARS ago. Instead we went the Celtics route with a lesser selection of players. Maybe at one time Melo/Tyson/Amar'e could have rivaled Pierce/KG/Ray - but they're not as complimentary... and we didn't have an elite distributor and defender at the point to make it go.

Such is life.

Just do a little research and a little math before you start throwing out names, especially when Boogie already GOT a deal. Ya'no?

Can we talk about why the Knicks just fired their GM the day before the season and how no one within the organization is telling the public why?

Nothing to the table....I know more basketball than most here. Building a team around Melo and letting him call the shots is absurdly stupid. Care to discuss? He's too limited as a player to be the #1 guy and he's the same exact player as he was as a rookie as he is now. The Knicks are all in on that. And you blindly accept it. You're the perfect reason why James Dolan couldnt give two shyts about winning....he's got fans like you regardless.

Nah you right. He's a superstar. I think he's an entertaining player.

We were talking about different things and I made it about winning. My bad.

For the record though, no smileys needed...those other guys are/were superstars because they won, including KD. What's Melo's playoff win percentage? In ten years he's played 66 games in the postseason. KD has played 54 playoff games in 5 years. Doc and KG and KD went to the finals. If he's a "superstar" it's during the regular season and, as a fan, I don't enjoy that kind of entertainment.

What was KG's "playoff winning percentage" before he linked up with Paul Pierce? What was Paul Pierce's "playoff winning percentage" before they connected? What's chris paul's "playoff winning percentage"....newsflash dyckhead, its a team game, and there are only 2 playoff series, maybe 3, that a melo team should have theoretically won on paper, but didnt, in his whole career.

I can tell you why. He's a crony fukk. Grunwald never had any real power, and didn't even hold the title he deserved. Dolan is the worst, and the Knicks front office is a sham-orgy.

Still, we gotta talk basketball, because I still root for them. I want them to be good.

I agree with you. I just use this forum to vent my frustration with the franchise. I spotted this bullshyt a long time ago. My opinions on the matter just dont blend well with the younger Knicks fan here who blindly accept Dolan for who he is. The guy is the worst owner is sports. If I knew where to begin on how to get Dolan out, I'd be the first on line.

I dont get it at all. Why are the Knicks like this? Is Dolan sick or something?

Because the owner has never worked a day in his life, and inherited his industry, his wealth, and the team from his father. He's desperate to be cool, but allergic to anything but absolute agreement. He started a band that for YEARS garden employees were REQUIRED not just to attend the concerts of... but BUY tickets. They've chased off everyone that has ever provided a balanced approach to thinking about the team - coaches, front office people, PR men. Everyone. If you offered a differing opinion, you were sequestered, cut out, and then eventually fired and napalmed.
