Take away the music. Leave the socio-economic status, pitiful school systems, single parent homes, and crime ridden neighborhoods, but take away the music. You believe things would be significantly better?

I'm saying yo. I'm not saying music isn't a factor, but a huge factor, NAH, I ain't buying it. Because if the kids listen to a rapper and does some retarded shyt, we've got much bigger problems than the music.

This is something I've always assumed (and data have supported for some time). I much prefer shows and movies with positive portrayals of black people. For example I thoroughly enjoy Black-ish but have never seen an episode of Empire. Of course, what makes money is watching blacks tear each other down. It's what makes the 'mainstream' feel good and sadly many blacks have drank the Kool-Aid.

So black people can't ever be villains, even in different circumstances?

Yeah I don't get this.

Black people can't be depicted as villainous, deceitful, amoral, criminal, lustful or slothful because......

I mean I don't know because it sends a bad message to us as a collective.

I don't get this place sometimes.

I guess every black character portrayed on TV should be like Ned Flanders or Hank Hill.

Can't relate :dahell:What kind of stuff are people watching to cause their self esteem to drop?

I enjoyed watching television as a kid because it was an escape from reality. I still use it as a relaxing escape from reality. The self esteem is more about which type of stuff people are choosing to watch. Actually interacting with people in person had more of an affect on my self esteem than watching television.
Couldnt have said it better, I was thinking exactly the same thing. When I first read the headline all I could think was what kind of bogus nonsense study is this :russ:
