Tbh a lot of it merely stems from exposure as an adolescence, I mean I can't even really say I knew what an engineer was or truly did when I was in hs, let alone the math and physics needed at the time to get there; Meanwhile sports and entertainment in the black community is everywhere, especially when you see young black people succeeding in those industries making guap...I'm sayingCats really in here acting like the average Black male wouldn't prefer to be an athlete rather than an engineer, even if told that the path to becoming an engineer is much easier compared to that of an athlete. For a lot of folks, school is practically something to do until it's time to work some shyt job for years on end. It is what it is.
Not to mention the many parents who treat school as government funded daycare. It's not even so much about race as it is about attitude.
