No. You just have to get a minimum score to get S rank for each stage. I managed to get S Rank on stage 12 before they made it more difficult.

Get your combos up basically

Yes and no. You have to rack up the combos and the best way to do this is string together consecutive hits, without them being interrupted. Not TOO hard once you learn the pattern of each stage.

The DLC is more of a survival mode though rather than new stages. So keep expectations in check.

The survival mode is not using old stages, but they are not full sidescrolling stages either. You can see any of the new states are closer to single screen arenas.
