I watched the video. He said he didn’t like the beats that Roc gave him. He said Roc didn’t have anything to do with the creation of the album (aside from giving him the beats). He said Roc heard the album after it was done. He said that the input that Roc did give him (take the hook off the first song) he rejected. He said he wants to do more melodic shyt. He gave Roc props at the end for being a pioneer of the sound.
It’s abundantly clear that Stove doesn’t want to rap over Roc’s beats or make the kind of music Roc makes. I don’t see them working on another album together in the future. I chalk it up to creative differences. Stove toed the line of disrespect with the way he spoke on Roc.
Again yall are taking what he said completely out of context. He told the same story in more detail to Rosenberg 1 year ago.
Timestamped:
He told Roc
directly that he didn't want to even rap over his beats because that wasn't his sound. He fukked with Roc and Griselda musically but that's not what he wanted to rap over. Roc insisted and sent him beats anyway. After recording a few songs he started loving it and finished the album. Roc was never with him in the studio he just sent the beats.
B Dot specifically asked him what was Roc's input on RD and Stove said he just sent beats and they didn't speak on it until after Stove was finished.
What part of his story isn't consistent to where now he's disrespecting Roc?
People acting like Stove and Roc are Guru and Premier. They're not a group, they're not in business together beyond RD, and there was never a guarantee they'd keep doing albums together. Roc still hasn't delivered on the Metal Clergy album with Ka. That's just the business, timing, and art not aligning. All that choosing sides and taking shots at grown men who aren't giving you what you want is unnecessary.
Stove has been rapping over drumless beats and production similar to Roc's since joining Griselda. I don't think he has a problem with Roc's production. As Roc said them not working together isn't for artistic reasons it's business related. No one would think there's an issue if Flee Lord didn't run his mouth.
