On the one hand it's dumb to try and tank after getting Fox who is in his prime and is going to sign a max next year. Trading for him signals that the team to start winning is now.

On the other hand this might be the last time the spurs can actually tank cause the combo of Wemby and Fox might be to good after having half a season and off season together.

Wemby and Fox have...5 or 6 games together and it's clear that when you need a bucket, those are the guys you can lean on.

I don't remember the sample size but over the last 10 or 15 games, Stephen Castle has been noticeably better. I think someone online even shared a graph that he performs better when he starts.

It feels like the Spurs are going to start Chris Paul no matter what for the remainder of the season. This probably leads to more losses. But also a better draft position.

It'll be curious to see what the Spurs target in this draft. One of the picks has to be a forward.

Then I imagine they either take the highest ceiling player available. Or they take a shooting guard and then you gotta wonder who gets traded first: Vassell or Keldon.

I'm looking at the contracts

Harrison Barnes is a free agent after next season and he could definitely be moved.

Looks like Branham and Wesley are both on team options for the next two years.

I'm not sure why they even have Mamu. He's not playing any minutes.

What was the point of signing Biyombo just to DNP him?

Somebody need to make Chris Paul realize it's that time for him to come off the bench

No reason for us to keep starting him and Fox together unless it's a stealth tank going on

As I think someone else mentioned, it’s prolly gotta be Paul’s decision ‘cause odds are one of the motivating factors in signing with SA was a guaranteed starting role.

Dallas by way of Houston by way of San Antonio

Please don’t dive for balls in the fukkin ASG.

:sadcam:

Man he's barely been doing that recently. Losing gimmie rebounds, not contesting some of these drives. Hopefully being on a legit (albeit hastily thrown together) team gives him some motivation for the second half of the season.

I'll give him a pass cause he was sick and still recovering

But I need him to come out balling after the break

Steph continuing to let folks know…

:myman:

Lets hope Mitch was one a them “folks” too
Yeah I saw that he got MVP yesterday.

Over the last 4-5 years we've put our hopes into Keldon, Vassell, Sochan, and...to some small degree Josh Primo (before the foolishness).
But Stephon Castle is flashing the highest ceiling.

Since January 3 (19 games, 12 starts),

Castle is averaging 16.1 points, 3.5 assists, 3.3 rebounds on .461 FG% (.333 3P%)
More than that, in the games I've watched it seems like Castle is very receptive to coaching. Chris Paul and Mitch Johnson are in his ear a lot.

Yeah, I saw a short article about how much he appreciates CP3 as a mentor, on and off the floor, so maybe he’s invested in the setup…

…for THIS szn at least.
