They're saying that black people with great intellect are accused of sounding white and ostracized. I'm saying that black kids with great intellect were NOT ostracized at all in my experience.

But what about the last part?

If ALL of these people were called "white", then who the hell was calling them white? Everyone I meet keeps saying this so that means "white sounding" black people are the majority. How on Earth can the majority be ostracized?

I'm not saying that no one had this experience. I'm saying that it's rare for anyone to be ostracized for being smart or "sounding white". The truth is that a lot of these people are lying. Like I said before, look at their pages. They look and sound no different from the average black person.

I work in education in a city that is predominantly black and hispanic. I hear kids say this shyt to other kids all the time. 9/10 it be some underachieving ass tying to reduce another student who is on top of their shyt.
I dont think it has anything to do with actual intelligence, but what people perceive of what intelligence sounds like. And that has everything to do with the person listening not the talker.

That's not true at all in my experience.

I went to a 98% black high school in FLATBUSH that was notorious in Brooklyn.

The most popular kid in the school was class president and an intellectual.

In fact, the nerdy dudes weren't even smart. They were actually some of the dumbest kids in the school.

People would accuse their friends of "acting white" mostly as a joke. But no one really cared.

If you click on any of the profiles agreeing with that post, you'll notice that none of them are any different than your average black person. They think they're smart, yet I'm finding all kinds of grammar and spelling mistakes in their posts.

That whole "black people hate smart people" shyt is a racist myth. We made fun of kids who couldn't read.

We bragged about being smarter than our friends.

Also here's something I want you to consider.

If so many black people are saying, "I got made fun of and called white for being smart", then WHO the fukk was making fun of them? Because every black person these days are saying the same shyt. Where are the people that called them white?

Were all "nerds" geniuses and doing well for themselves now? No but I could argue a significant portion of them weren't compete bums either. Nearly everyone in this thread has stories of "nerds" (not necessarily smart kids but different kids) getting ostracized and then as a community we wonder why people get the fukk out the community as quickly as they can and why there's a generational cycle of bad influences.

nikkas wanna tiptoe around it but having such a rigid standard of being "black "means alot of us wasted our potential subscribing to stereotypes because God forbid you were different.
