how is it selfish? yall nikkas in here arguing for non impacted people to get checks simply because yall want free money.

i'm of the mind it should go to all or only go to those who have lost income, regardless of their income level pre-covid...how yall feel hurt by that, i don't know. shyt don't affect me either way

You might have more money than most, but I'm speaking for my tax bracket, the Black folks who got a lil money but our family still live in poverty. We are the one family runs to when things get hard and are expected to help out. You might not have those issues, but most first-generation college grads deal with these issues. As I said, have some empathy, Champ:hhh:

you're trying too hard to deflect to a whole other conversation of which i've been on the right side of - check the student loan threads. this is a conversation about the flawed income limits from jump. if their desire was to limit the number of people who don't "deserve" money, then it should be targeted to those who lost income

My exact situation.

:sadcam:
I'm the buttress against people falling into total economic despair at times.
Car repairs, hotel rooms after evictions, dinners, clothes etc. I've helped with it all.

We've had essential workers risking catching covid for the last year and never getting the hazard pay they deserved but somehow they're 'non-impacted' people. :mjlol:
If you didn't catch Covid you probably weren't impacted more than anyone else.

That's a harsh reality. :hubie:

So what you're saying is, essential workers should get a check, but only if they caught covid?

wanna quote me next time...yall in here talking sideways.

they should've been had hazard pay, i actually think random checks instead of hazard pay was a huge miss - congress should've paid essential workers and boosted UI

We know who has been impacted, support them, support states, support frontline workers (they’ve become a lost talking point in all this) and KIM.
and by frontline - i meant essential, not just medical
Grocers sue Oakland over new $5-an-hour hazard pay mandate for supermarkets

finally enacting hazard pay is late AF - but the fact that these companies are suing is b/s. pay these fukking people

but it's called "Economic Impact Payments" , not hazard payments, which means people who are economically impacted should get checks - no?

But they're apparently not getting hazard pay, so why shouldn't they get the check? They deserve hazard pay, but a check is just 'free money' to them because they 'weren't impacted'? That doesn't even begin to make sense. :why:

No. :mjtf:

Nobody wants this means testing garbage except bad faith Rethuglicans and blue dog corporate Democrats.

Give everybody the check. If they made too much, tax it back next year. Anything else is just Dems hitting an own goal.

everyone agrees with this...but under the current circumstances of them trying to target, then it should go to those who have lost wages, no income cap

I think everyone deserves a check because they were all affected.

But I'm not sure how paying people a few extra dollars an hour would somehow offset the costs of. Hospitalization, time off of work, funeral expenses or general loss of a love one.

The US response was terrible. :hubie:
