this is how Obama lost control of Congress. If Democrats don’t implement everything they want, people won’t see what they were running on in the first place and will disengage altogether.
It's a dangerous time to disenfranchise people too. This nation's faith in its critical institutions are already at an all time low, and we are on the brink in uncharted waters.
It's not the time. We need to change course, and quickly. I feel any sense of urgency, which is scary. Our government is still somewhat behaving as if job loss, food insecurity, etc, isn't several times as bad as the 2008 collapse and recession.
False hope is one of the worst things you can give to people. False hope will truly break people.
Edit: I mean honestly even a one-time check is sad. This pandemic called for a change in the system, and other developed nations are doing a better job of taking care of their citizens.
