The 2k bill is essentially just crossing out $600 and replacing it with $2000, so I would assume it means nothing if the original bill isn't passed.

It doesn't matter because Mitch McConnell isn't going to hold a senate vote on the $2000 portion so it's effectively dead. Pelosi will probably hold the vote on the house part Monday but there's no way they can force a senate vote. I'm betting if an actual vote was held in the senate it would pass because the two Georgia senators would probably vote yes for optics.

One silver lining of Trump’s latest petulant display is that tomorrow’s House bill could very well cost Republicans the Senate majority if McConnell refuses to bring it up for a vote. Almost seems as if Trump deliberately prodded action by House Democrats to force McConnell’s hand on the eve of a critical runoff that’ll decide who holds the Senate Majority under Biden.

If McConnell doesn’t hold a vote, it WILL impact the races in GA. That is a certainty no one who’s following these developments can deny.

They are letting the Senate come up with the bill so when it doesn’t pass they can blame the Democrats. This is a way for the Republicans and Trump to shift the blame and save face.
