He was the President of Urban Music Entertainment at Sony/Columbia and was the Executive Producer of "It Was Written", "The Firm" and also helped with the Will Smith Sony Deal I believe which is why NaS and the Trackmasters were heavily involved with "Big Willie Style". He joined Interscope After leaving Columbia/Sony. 50 link to Interscope was through Em who brought him to Dre after liking some of the G-Unit mixtapes.
That's what I remember reading but now I'm thinking that Steve was the plug to Interscope and the Em story was just industry bs to sell to the fans.

No 50 was actually blackballed, dropped from the label, no one but a couple of rappers would fukk with him. Nas was one of them.

The opposite. Stoute was one of the Sony execs who actually blackballed 50, and told Sony not to go through with an Album.
Hence one of the Main reasons why 50 still has ill feelings towards Stoute to this day

:what: where do you come up with it being mostly Scott Storch? because he came up with a 2 bar piano loop that he probably just did fukking around and Dre picked it out and said "DO THAT AGAIN" Storch didn't play that guitar, he didn't lay those drums, he didn't put that shyt together. NONE of his eats come close to touching Still Dre, they're too stilted a stiff in the drums, everything is dry and clean in a bad way.

That 2 bar piano loop is what made the beat so special...yeah Dre might have done the drums, but still, it was that LOOP that made the song stick in your ear...

I’m truly shocked that he wrote Snoop stuff

shyt sound exactly like Snoop

Like others have said, it was only like a 2 bar hook. Snoop put his own style on it. All the ad-libs & the whole 9 is on Snoop.

Plus, im not sure Jay had Snoop in mind when he wrote that part. He just wrote it. Maybe Dre, being a producer, felt Snoop would
sound hot on that part and told him to do it.

Either way its just a 2 bar hook.

From what i can remember reading somewhere once...he wrote a verse for DRE and then they wanted it changed up a little. Jay flies to recording session...Snoop's there etc, bangs it out, voila.

Dr Dre can't rap DOC and others always wrote is shyt. Well known...
Dre can't rap?

Dre is a great technical rapper. You mean he can't write? He probably doesn't have time to and I doubt it's one of his strengths.

Now Puffy Can't Rap despite whoever writes his rhymes.

dre's mic p[presence is dope as hell..his voice and delivery are on point!!

Facts, this is why Dre will forever be one of my favorite emcees. Also Dre never fronted or lied about Ghostwriting, he always let it be known he had co-writers or collaborators. So I don't hold it against him that he used Jay's pen. Plus I know Dre is more than just an emcee, he's a musical genius. But he has one of the GOAT Rap Voices clearly.

Ok, so it was just a coincidence that both went from Columbia to Interscope.

So why did 50 do business with Stoute on the Reebok deal?
