Uncertain grounds
What has happened to liberty in this country for people to be cosigning this?
:manny:

If a kid wants the option to go pro he should be able to. This is 'merica. A lot of these kids major in Sports Management, which will just give them entry level jobs at minimum wage anyway..and by going pro, they will have much better connections for life after Sports than if they stayed in college to get that degree.

This doesn't even touch the problems of the economy...with the jobs available at the wages provided, its a much better business move (in almost all cases) to go pro as soon as possible. They should have the option to pursue the best life possible for them.

I agree with Kerr. I've said the NBA should at least be like CFB in termsof the 2year rule.

I understand that some of these guys are poor, and wanna do things for their families, but that's been going on for years. Dudes like Iverson, Ray Allen, others etc in the 90's went to college for a couple years when they probably didnt have to.

The concept of going from HS to the Pros was still a new thing at that time, so if AI or Ray Allen had done, they would have done it before KG, and considering the issue AI was dealing with, nobody would have touched him.

This debate is a testament to human stupidity and obstinance. Every article that could ever be written disproving every incredibly dishonest, emotional, illogical point the age limit supporters make has been written 500 times. Still, these columns and threads persist. You point out that vast majority of the best players in the league never went to college or spent a grand total of one year there, and it simply doesn't matter... someone will bring up Korleone Young or Gerald Green.

If you support the age limit you're either a selfish, scumbag fan or a straight up and down dumb ass.

Dudes like Shabazz and Nerlens should be able to go to the A right away, let's end this charade of student-athletics.

Fix the NBDL so if a dude wants to come out of High School he has to spend some time down there for some seasoning.

comparing a government entity to a private business? dumb comparison. any business has the right to set the requirements for terms of employment.

Considering u can lose the use of a limb doing both, which can dramatically change your familys lives and ur ability to be able to support them?id say its a pretty good comparison...only difference is the govt will take care of you for life and provide benefits.....what about the colleges? They gon give u the money u coulda got if u went to the nba?they gon take care of u at all or just say "tough luck nika:yesshrug:

And sumbody bought up AI and ray allen...both went to college for 2 yrs...can we agree both have different games? Kerr is on record sayin iversons not a team player...every one says ray allen is a team player...iversons coaches over the yrs obviously allowed him to play flashy over the years with no reprocussions, things many players would be benched for...ray plays the way your "suppposed to play"...sum would say the different way these two players were coached and family life defined who they were in the nba....sum would say "sum players just get it and sum won't ever change"....so my question is if these players all will have different coaches sum who care about these kids futures in the nba and sum who just want to win...and all these players have different family lives, mental issues,backgrounds....how the fuk is college supposed to benefit all these nikkas?if a nikka barely graduated WITH assistance:scheme: there's nuthin college could teach derrick rose the nba couldn't...he's a good kid wit a good family just look at that..if that's questionable its a risk college or no college

Going from HS to the NBA is a HUGE culture shock regardless of how many people were giving you preferential treatment before the jump.

The one and done rule helps with the transition a little but I think they should make you wait til you're 20. Or at least send these kids to the NBDL and pump some life into that joke of a farm league.

Shout out to my man Brandon Jennings too. I liked his journey.

thats called life. and how many nikkas lost a limb hoopin? read this carefully: the NBA is a business they have the right to set the requirements for hire. you have to be at least 15 to work at McDs because that's the age they choose to let you be a part of their company. if the league and the union wanted to they could say you have to be 35 to play in the league. everyone says it's the right for these kids to be able to earn a living but it's also a right for the NBA to have them meet requirements. college to the NBA isn't the only option if these guys are in dire need of bread.
