I played football in college. I don't think that sports belong in college period, except for intramurals. We should do like the Europeans and have a club system. So if a kid has no interest in school, but has talent, he can go pro at a very early age.

He's right though, the NBA is a business....we all want to and pay to watch basketball played at the highest level possible and a lot of these kids just aren't ready for the NBA....not all of them can be Kobe :childplease:

Da city where the skinny nikkas die
I do think some of these guys should go to college for something useful so they dont end up dead broke after retirement...

but whatever its up to them :yeshrug:

:rudy: have you not watched the news recently? its plenty of broke debt-ridden college grads out there. getting a degree guarantees nothing. and since these athletes are getting bullshyt degrees its even more worthless.
Really good article. I think he's on point with almost everything written.

This. A lot of athletes major in communication, sports management, or sociology cause it's easier than STEM majors and allows them more time for sports. Nothing wrong with those majors, but you definitely not gonna be that marketable in an economy where math, science, and economics majors are having trouble finding jobs. The graduation rate for athletes does need improvement though. shyt is garbage right now. Not everybody's going to the league so at least have that piece of paper to fall back on.

I agree with Kerr. I've said the NBA should at least be like CFB in termsof the 2year rule.

I understand that some of these guys are poor, and wanna do things for their families, but that's been going on for years. Dudes like Iverson, Ray Allen, others etc in the 90's went to college for a couple years when they probably didnt have to.

It also brings up the point that even when looking at non athletes, we all know PLENTY OF immature ass 22 year olds with college degrees...

A lot of bullshyt in this article. People are really glorifying college IMO. As if the college culture can't make a player entitled. or that there are plenty of professionals with one or less years in college, while there are plenty of knuckleheads with two or more years. But the most laughable part about that article is this concept of "Team" and how important it is to the NBA. Name a single team that keeps together even 50% of its team for more tha. 2 or 3 years. What a crock of shyt.

And how would college make them ready for the NBA?
