It’s Curry. Nobody has done what Curry does wit that shot. Somebody has done what Russ is doing
It's not that it's unimportant, it's just not as important/impactful as other actions in the game, but because it's a stat in the box score, folks overvalue it. I've been saying this shyt for years now: the basketball public doesn't accurately value the actions in the game; they let the box score dictate how they view the game.
Let me give you a scernario:
x-defender defends the primary ball-handler for half the shot-clock, disrupts multiple pick and rolls along the way, and eventually forces the ball-handler into a tough, contested shot which misses
y-defender grabs the uncontested rebound, to which there's only x-defender and z-defender in the vicinity (only his teammates), and any three of them could've grabbed the ball.
Now, needless to say, they need to secure the ball once the rebound is there for the taking, but how much impact does that action have, in relation to everything that went on during the defensive possession? It ranks well down the list of importance, doesn't it? Communicating on what side the pick is coming, positioning to stave off easy cuts, sticking to your defensive assignment, switching/rotating correctly etc. These are all actions during a defensive possession which are more important/impactful, are they not? But because they're not in the box score, folks don't value them as such.
A possession is 24 seconds. Think about all that happens on the defensive side to stop the opposition from scoring in those 24 seconds. Yet because the rebound is in the box score, it's valued above everything else, defensively, when most of the time it's a simple action of grabbing the ball when nobody is around.
It's not that important, is it?

Stop smoking bullshyt and stop posting garbage after smoking garbagefukk you, I'm high. Stop being a Russ hater. It's very uncool.
Except that's not what he said -Bruh the post you quoted me on was me saluting someone else, for calling out a poster who said rebounds are unimportant. Thats it and that's all. I'm not arguing the hierarchy of importance of a rebound, that was never my point. Dude said rebounds don't matter and that isn't true...
He's quite clearly pointing out here why a simple action is valued so highly. And he's 100% right. Rebounds aren't that impressive/impactful when you weigh them against all the other actions that happen during a game. It's an archaic measurement, and it should be done away with.Never understood why rebounds were impressive stats
you just stand there and wait for some incompetent shooter to miss and the ball comes to you
Of course, it would. How people view the game is on them and it tells on their analysis. Doing away with box score stats wouldn't change that people will find their own unique perspective to interpret stats that are available. All stats have to be taken in context and watching the actual games has to be balanced within that to give the perception of what won't show up in any stat column...

So every rebound he gets is an uncontested defensive rebound...
Russ because no one else has done this since Oscar Robertson. Even guys who were supposed to be the triple double kings(Lebron, Grant HIll) didn't put up these kind of numbers
Westbrook's team has been outrebounded in every single playoff series since Russ started stat-padding rebounds. How did the Rockets do on the glass against the Lakers?
But no one ever made 400 threes in 1 season before![]()

You'd think that having supposedly the greatest rebounding guard of all time would give you the boost to win a rebounding battle at least once. But it does nothing when you're just taking those boards from your own guy. When Steven Adams was on Russ's playoff teams he was only getting 7 boards/game, but once he was opposing Russ he's averaging 12 rpg. Kanter couldn't buy a rebound next to Russ in 2017, but turn around and put him on the Blazers and he's leading them with 10+ rpg while the Blazers beat the Thunder on the boards.
Funniest part is that when Russ was on the Thunder they got outrebounded by the Rockets, but when Russ was on the Rockets they got outrebounded by the Thunder.
