And Steph is a freak shooter. He's one of the greatest shooters ever.

And yes OBJ is more like the average person than god damn Megatron at 6'5" 230 or some shyt.

This is the highlight filled time when it comes to sports and Steph got highlights for daaaaaays.
If you believe that being freakishly exceptional at one skill makes you a generation talent then I'm wasting my time even arguing with an idiot like you.

I guess Dennis Rodman should've earned a few years as the face of the L then, considering he's the best rebounder of all time. :childplease:

When Curry is putting up monster lines and getting sorry teams into the playoffs the way Bron, AD, WB, Durant, Kobe, Jordan, all did I'll give him that nod. When Curry's presence alone instantly makes the worst of squads 20-30 wins better I'll give him that nod. Be real, restart this series from Game 2 and switch Steph with Bron. You think he's carrying Cle to 2 wins? :mjlol:

THAT is a generational talent.

lol WHAT? MVP Rose took that Bulls squad to 60+ wins despite the fact that they were riddled with injuries all throughout the season and hardly had their full lineup till the playoffs. That's the living, breathing, definition of "transcendent." I'd never seen a PG take over the game and impose his will with such force the way prime Rose did. It was like watching a small LeBron.

And Westbrook's late season push was astounding. C'mon b. :usure:

Rose did a good job lifting a below average Bulls offense to above average heights, but the real strength of that Bulls team was on the other end of the court. The 2011 Chicago Bulls led by Thibs had the best defense in the NBA and were a great rebounding team. Rose didn't contribute heavily to either of those factors, so how did he carry the team? They won sixty games BECAUSE of the help he received keeping the score low and limiting the opponent's possessions while he generated offense. You put any eliteshot creator on that Bulls team, like Steph Curry, and they finish with a similar if not better record

You know who the real transcendent players were in 2011? LeBron, Dwight and Dirk. Rose wasn't remotely close to being remotely close to being in that conversation. There have been a ton of point guards that have played this game who have taken over a game in a similar manner to Derrick Rose. Allen Iverson is one of them. Neither of these guys deserve to be in the same convo as prime LeBron James in any context

Yeah Westbrook was a monster in February and later post ASB. Its arguable but I think Curry has that same impact on an offense without needing to dominate the ball because of the attention he draws as the most dangerous shooter on the floor. The fact that he's equally as dangerous whether the ball is in or out of his hands gives him more offensive utility than Russ. I also like his decision making a little more offensively and much more defensively. There is a case to be made for Russ and I see it, but the gap between them is not large either way. These are both great players.

It's pretty clear that the league is trying to push it and we all know why (light skinned, from an upperclass family, "good boy,") but jesus christ talk about the worst face of the league in NBA history. I thought "face of the league" was reserved for transcendent, generational talents and if we're being honest Curry certainly isn't one. On top of that, the face of the league is supposed to look physically imposing. You wanna see him and go, "that guy is an athlete." I look at Curry and feel confident I could give him the hands in a pickup game scrap. :scust:

So you want the league to push Bron? A guy that is going to be 2 of 6 in the finals?

No one gives trophies to the loser breh

It's my understanding that a generational talent is someone who effects the game in every aspect. To me, when I think "generational talent," I think of a guy that you can plop onto any team and single handedly see that team enjoy 20-30 more wins off his presence alone. Just a complete game changer. Think prime Shaq, prime Kobe, prime Bron. Davis is going to be on his way there, he essentially was handed the same situation as Kevin Love but did what Love never did, got his team into the offs.

your right steph isn't a game changer like shaq or bron. but that's what makes this great. Steph curry is basically self made. this is the perfect guy you want as face of the league because it gives the average joe hope. it shows you don't have to be 6 8 and up to be top dog. Small school, bad ankles, number 7 draft pick. think about that. 7. not even top 3. some of you may use the excuse his dad was a pro ball player but steph still had to put in the work. plus if it was all genetics, seth would be in the nba right now

Dude doesn't want Curry to be the face of the league even though he's the mvp, on the best team in the league and about to win a championship while being finals mvp. Talk about being delusional. :mjlol:

Complain about me calling a guy light skin when I'm light skin brehs. :comeon:

It still doesn't mean you aren't wrong. It has very little to do with him being light skinned. Curry is an exciting player, a mvp and about to be finals mvp. That is a media goldmine. All the darksinned mvp players have been promoted by the league before so you're just being controversial for no reason.

And he got more votes for the Allstar game than every player in the league, including LeBron. So it's obvious who the people are rocking with.

It actually has very little to do with his excitement level.

It's the "average joe complex." He's not athletic, has bad ankles, came from a privileged household, just looks like he has no business being in the league but is doing well for himself. He's a family man, a christian, etc. The NBA knows that mediocre dudes can relate to him and that makes him a goldmine, but from a pure talent and respect for the game standpoint he doesn't deserve that mantle.

Jordan
Shaq
Kobe
LeBron
Curry

One name is not like the others. Is this really how far we've come? :mjlol:

I threw in the light skin thing because like it or not, the closer you are to looking white the easier you are to market, and this is coming from a light skin. If talent strictly had to do with qualifying you as the face of your sport then Sharapova wouldn't be making twice as much in endorsements as Serena. But she is.:skip:

If Michael Jordan was lightskin do you really think I'd be saying he was only the face of the league because of his complexion? :francis:

Problem with the ego-fueled, machismo-driven culture of sports today.

This guy would rather fawn over muscle bound, steroid freaks with shrunken testicles than appreciate a hard-working, intelligent "every man" that can inspire kids even without certain physical advantages to consider a career in athletics.
