ai was not in the hand check era. stop that nonsense. AI came in during the change from the handcheck era to the armbar era. not the exact same thing. still tougher then what it is now i'll agree there. but its not old school derek harper hand checking every night.prime AI was a much better player then current curry
curry benefits from having a very good team, a very complete team & a team with minimal weakness
while AI played with rag tag types -he took an old mutumbo, ty hill, george lynch, eric snow, theo raff, aaron mckie to da finals
while curry is playing with 3times the amount if talent around him
several all stars
couple of Olympic/USA national team mates
runner up for defensive player of the year
i mean i personaly dont think it us even close when comparing da two
add da fact AI played most of his career in da hand check era
which i can say with much confidence curry would struggle against
curry is being handchecked right now by delle, and manhandled. He had one bad game and that was the end of that. more rain, more splash.
AI's 3ball was suspect. sure he was clutch. i will always give him that. But he aint no curry. nope. he just aint.
AI and curry got about the same defense. quick hands that can get steals and thats about it. but because curry is a bigger dude. he can play slightly better defense then AI ever could (thats just dna, like how lebron's size , and kd's size is just dna. it is what it is)
Most pg's are not even thinking about posting up curry. S.livingston would take little AI to the block RIGHT NOW if AI was in his prime today. thats a fact. again Curry isnt a short pg. so the odds of a tall guard trying to post curry up is slim(again not AI's fault. its dna.)
Yes gstates team is a better team. i'll agree with that. But the way AI has played his entire LIFE. college too. suggests that AI could never play on a very very good team with other really good scorers. He had to have the ball in his hands way to much. curry can come off of screens and turn into Ray allen/Rip Hamilton/JJ Reddikk and play off ball to klay on a hot klay night. could AI do that? No. Yes AI use to run around similar screens. but not to get open for a jumper. that was to get the main guy the ball since everyone knew he was going to handle the ball. so they tried to deny him the entry passes from out of bounds. so they would run him off of screens to get guys off of him so they could give him the ball back so he could run the show.
AI to me never seemed like the kind of guard you could win a ring with as good as he was. Its the Carmelo thing. Great scorer. but thats about it. but because he was a hood icon and a small guy in nba terms. he was the people's champ. so most will never admit to this or most cant admit to it even though its true.
LASTly, AI got a lot of calls. a lot he didnt deserve. he got them because he was a very fraile dude going into the teeth of the defense. So they gave him the benefit of the doubt. curry is not going to get that same benefit since he's just a bit larger then AI was and its noticeable. curry doesnt look like a little fella going into the paint. perception is a lot when it comes to how they officiate you.
