Late Night show ratings are the highest they've been in years.

Also, you guys are underselling Colbert, dude has all the prerequisites to be a an elite Late Night host. 20 years + in the comedy game, he has had his own show for years and has done so much other stuff prior to the show. He has great timing, is intelligent, and he can engage and challenge the guests without putting off the audience. He will do very well.
He's built a brand playing a character. If he drops the character his current fanbase may drop him. I mean he's gonna get attention due to his name and who he's replacing but if it ain't broke don't fix it.

I understand that, but late night tv is a marathon not a sprint ask George Lopez. Dude changed his brand so quickly and threw people off. He underestimated the intelligence of his audience and TBS and made his spiel generic, and he lost what made him unique. I actually think if Colbert is close to the way he is on his show and stays consistent with a few tweaks he will be fine. Yea he has played a character, but he is a great comedian first. Kinda like Paul Reubens. Dude has been Peewee Herman for 30 years but take that away he's still a funny dude.

I think its a smart move, Colbert can be funny without being raunchy and idiots were catching feelings over him doing satire anyhow.

In addition his contract was up and I wouldn't be surprised if that was part of David Letterman deciding to leave. Knowing they could get somebody competent to take the job over.

:childplease: George Lopez was doing great @ 11pm. Only reason why he's not on the air now is b/c TBS gave Conan his time slot.

I don't disagree but his stuff was in decline towards that latter half of run, but I liked him a lot, he was hilarious. Funnier than Conan actually. But it's all relative, Lopez's new sitcom is funny, he's an adaptable dude, I'd check for his stuff in any format.

Good for Reali but now I will probably never watch ESPN again. ATH was the ony worthwhile show they had. they probably gonna get some lame to be the host :snoop:
I doubt he's leaving ATH. Joining GMA as a correspondent only.

he seemed pretty funny from some appearances i saw him do on other peoples shows. anything is better than those 2 old b*stards we had to deal with for years. no more sitting through unfunny/ repetitive monologues:blessed:

He's gonna have some catching up to do since Fallon has amassed a lead over Letterman and Kimmel. Good idea though by CBS, Ferguson wasn't gonna cut it.

Breh, you really think that's all he is? Or that his fans don't recognize that he's much more than a character? Most of his fan base is sophisticated enough to tell the difference. He's more talented than Fallon and just as loved.
