Listen up you bytch ass emotional c*nt, you didn't make a single point that I haven't already addressed.

These "rare" storms aren't going to be so rare anymore because of the way our climate is changing. The sea levels are going to rise, waters will get warmer and weather patterns will change. They need to adapt ASAP. This storm was relatively weak in historical terms. The damage and flooding was caused by lack of proper infrastructure and building codes.

I think everyone realizes this, my point is its not gonna happen overnight

I work in building design + construction, even when there is a lot of money shyt takes a lot of time. And right now the city DOESN'T have a lot of money. New construction is slowed the fukk up

So the idea that the city should just pour trillions (cause thats what it would take) into upgrading buildings for storms next year is ridiculous. It will take years just to develop a comprehensive plan

More realistic plan? Let people deal with their own buildings. City should be focused on protecting infrastructure- building anti-flood mechanisms for subway and traffic tunnels, waterproofing coastal powerplants etc

do you realize how much money the marathon brings to the city?

negligent.

do you realize how much revenue is lost everyday because WE STILL DON'T HAVE fukkN ELECTRICITY

if your job doesn't have a generator, guess who's not getting paid

do you know how much money the city will need for storm cleanup?

economic losses projected at 50billion - low end 20billion

you also have thousands of people from all over the world. not city. The world who blew their cash to get on a plane to come down to NY for this marathon. they aint rich. what you gone do. refund them?

In 2001 the NYC marathon was held 7 weeks after the terrorist attacks

the local businesses that blow up during the marathon need the money as well. especially after this past week and change.

1. This is NYC, not Oklahoma. Nobody, Nobody is going to stop coming to NYC. Folks from around the world are still trying to come to a city that has no electricity and no public transportation. Are you serious? fukk we need you other ppl for. You will always love us.

2. Notice that everything in your rants deal with revenue generated. But they ignore operations management. Who will be doing security? The NYPD? The same NYPD currently posted at gas stations keeping fights and panics from breaking out? The same NYPD posted at bridges enforcing a 3passenger carpool minimum? The same NYPD that still has to protect a city of 8million people?

3. The hotels are booked. Again, my nikka, my ppl do not have electricity. I tried to book a hotel for em, but everything is sold out or not in working condition. I can up and leave to parts of queens that have electricity, or philadelphia (where I'm at this second), but what about those that can't afford it. Not to mention, THERE IS NO GAS IN THE CITY. You won't find gas around NY until you get to exist 8 on the jersey turnpike (NYC is exit 13, approximately 30-45mn away. And that was when I was driving at 1am last night. Imagine how far you have to go during the day time.

4.
Staten Island officials are infuriated with what they see as a measly relief response after their borough was hit hard by Hurricane Sandy, and some are going so far as to call on residents to hold back donations to the American Red Cross.
But you wanna have a fukkn marathon?

5 boroughs = 1 city. Manhattan doesn't make us. All the ppl that work in Manhattan live in Jersey, Connecticut, Long Island and the 4 other boroughs. I hate HATE HATE with a passion when Manhattan ass nikkas talk about this NYC shyt.

People are stubborn here in South Florida too. It took Hurricane Andrew to wake up everyone, from regular folks to politicians.

That storm was fukking devastating. I don't know how many others on this board remember going through it, but I do.

After that, no one fukked around anymore.

you have to realize it's a different situation. in Florida the environment is used to dealing with these storms. palm trees bend and shyt. severe rain and wind is a daily thing during the summer some places in Florida. up north shyt's different. those trees just snap, and the environment isn't as good at dealing with large amounts of water

That's exactly why they need to fix it. These storms aren't going to be rare for them anymore breh.

It's getting warmer. These storms will survive deep into fall and be able to go more northern and southern. Even Brazil got hit with their first hurricane in recorded history.

I didn't know that the city of New York could snap it's fingers and just flood proof everything.

They didn't go ahead and make improvements after Irene. They need to start ASAP. It will take years but if they keep rolling the dice they will pay in the long run.

Every Coastal City should have flooding/storm surge protection and mechanisms.
