All joking aside, That was a weak storm system relatively speaking. Infrastructure and building codes are important, as well as protecting against storm surges and flooding.

People are stubborn here in South Florida too. It took Hurricane Andrew to wake up everyone, from regular folks to politicians.
That storm was fukking devastating. I don't know how many others on this board remember going through it, but I do.

These "rare" storms aren't going to be so rare anymore because of the way our climate is changing. The sea levels are going to rise, waters will get warmer and weather patterns will change. They need to adapt ASAP. This storm was relatively weak in historical terms. The damage and flooding was caused by lack of proper infrastructure and building codes.

Seriously, these are actual stories running right now in between the disaster news. Bloomberg seriously had to think about the dangers of taking able bodies from the relief effort to maintain security at a god damn basketball game. shyts disgusting b.
