All joking aside, That was a weak storm system relatively speaking. Infrastructure and building codes are important, as well as protecting against storm surges and flooding.

With the rising sea levels and tsunamis, it's time to invest. Look how many lives were saved in Japan. They have a very high population density.

as a new yorker watching the news from outta town one thing I gotta say is we don't see hurricanes as a threat so a lot of people weren't really ready for/expecting this type of outcome but a lot of these motherfukkers actin like they the only ones who ever got hit by some type of shiit

People are stubborn here in South Florida too. It took Hurricane Andrew to wake up everyone, from regular folks to politicians.

That storm was fukking devastating. I don't know how many others on this board remember going through it, but I do.

After that, no one fukked around anymore.

You know what that storm showed me?

These East Coast northern cities need to step their Building Codes up. We got Global Warming going, rising seas, super storms, tsunamis. Get your fukking building codes and inspections up.

We save thousands of lives here in Florida with a strict building codes. Japan saved I don't know how many damn lives with that tsunami.
:wtf:

We have half of your state in a space probably not much bigger than Miami

And you have had hurricanes from day one. This is our second hurricane. Hurricane Irene was just last year. Its not like this is a normal thing. You might as well say we should have built our skyscrapers better in anticipation of 9/11 :aicmon:

Everyone has an opinion. Do yourself a favor. Turn off the news. Its designed to get you riled up and doesnt reflect whats actually going on. Then use this resource and ask people what is ACTUALLY going on.

Listen up you bytch ass emotional c*nt, you didn't make a single point that I haven't already addressed.

These "rare" storms aren't going to be so rare anymore because of the way our climate is changing. The sea levels are going to rise, waters will get warmer and weather patterns will change. They need to adapt ASAP. This storm was relatively weak in historical terms. The damage and flooding was caused by lack of proper infrastructure and building codes.

u lose your house, you lose your house....I get the joke but I don't

not to mention, every day we're on the news tryna figure out what the fukk is going on, and you know what I kept hearing the day after the storm???

"Will the Nets and Knicks play on Thursday. Amare is out 6-8 weeks with a knee injury. The NY Marathon is on Sunday, should we or should we not cancel it."

Seriously, these are actual stories running right now in between the disaster news. Bloomberg seriously had to think about the dangers of taking able bodies from the relief effort to maintain security at a god damn basketball game. shyts disgusting b.
