this is messed up.

They're showing this old white lady screaming "Where is President Obama....get ur trucks down here...we're gonna die"

WTH is wrong with CNN?

They nver showed the black ppl yelling at Bush in Katrina

I had to say this at work today. I'm noticing the news channels are approaching this a whole lot different than Katrina. I remember talking heads actually placing blame on people for not leaving and looting. Lets not pretend its not happening in Jersey or NYC at this moment. You had people die in this, and bless the dead, but you don't hear one person going off the deep end on their analysis that a lot of them were for Katrina.

damn brehs, I really do feel insensitive to this storm. I haven't watched any footage of it. It's really hard for me to put into perspective when i have mid-terms & surrounded by 80 degree days.....

any youtube vids on the storm or people freaking out?

CNN has turned fox news status judging by the comment I hear about it now. I don't watch none of that crap anyways. If you want cable news it's either PBS News or France 24 :salute: @88m3

OT: does france24 have a documentary series like frontline(pbs)?

Yeah they do and they're very well done imo as well. france24 operates around the world and has a large presence in Arab Countries which is a great asset especially with the current dynamics of the world. They even have a channel in Arabic that I've watched a few times. Today I saw a short special on Las Vegas about foreclosures. I had no idea people were living in the cities drainage systems for instance. I've also in recent memory seen specials on Afganistan, Russia, Spain, France and India. They also cover finance, football, and a number of international issues I find more interesting. It's a true international channel as well they cover every continent down to important current issues in countries .

I watch it while I work almost everyday till it loops.

In the Silver Lining
tradesmen are salivating at the mouth right now..
bout to feast heavily off this..

When Irene hit North Carolina....we had hundreds of folks from as far away as Minnesota and Texas coming through helping with electricity, cleaning debris, chopping down trees, etc. It was like an invasion :damn: of contractor trucks from all over the place.......

You know cotdamn well they like :stylin: :eat: right now.........

I said this on twitter on Monday night, while living in an area that was hit by the storm. ITs at best a Northeast bias.

And looting is going on.

The other thing I find funny is that the New Jersey and NYC were not ready to handle a category one hurricane. In Maryland, we didnt have any of this last year during Irene. It was bad, but never this bad.

thats the point :shaq2:

Sandy was weak in the DC area, and no one is talking about that. :upsetfavre:

The story is bigger because it happened in the northeast, particularly NYC and Jersey, even tho this storm was only a category one hurricane/tropical storm.

That wasn't your point. You said Irene was bad, but not this bad in DC/MD.

That was a point I didn't entirely get, but then you said you're surprised that NY couldn't handle a category 1. Thus I said, Irene was weak. Which was clearly to demonstrate that most of the people had no reason to take a hurricane seriously based on personal experience.

As far as this East Coast bias people like to talk about, I don't get how this is an egregious example. No one was talking about how weak Irene was in the tri-state area either? Why would that be a news story? Though the President did visit Jersey then too.

It was my point, and when i mentioned that it was due to how NY/NJ governments were not ready to handle a category one hurricane/tropical storm whereas MD was, even though we do not get many hurricanes in this area. It was not just about the people, but the government infrastructure.
