Claim a movie is divisive because a heavy fanbase majority disliked character from the previous film didn't get enough screen time brehs...
Also @ a Asian white woman being called a "woman of color"...
What next, a white woman with a Trump orange tan is a "woman of color"?
It's pathetic how they'll write anything to push the agenda and make it seem like the fanbase hates the character because of her ethnicity rather than the reality, she is one mans poorly written character who that man himself said has no place in a Star Wars movie...
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” has earned plenty of money in its week-plus in theaters, but has also proven divisive among fans and critics alike. One of the biggest issues that many appear to have with the film is its lack of screen time for Kelly Marie Tran’s character Rose Tico.
After being introduced in 2017′s “The Last Jedi” as a member of the Resistance (and the first woman of color to be a lead character in a “Star Wars” movie), Rose all but disappeared in “The Rise of Skywalker.”
Tran appears for a little over a minute in a movie than runs 142 minutes.
“Crazy Rich Asians” director Jon M. Chu is pitching a solution.
On Twitter, Chu threw his hat in the ring and offered to direct a TV show about the plucky Resistance fighter.
Ok @disneyplus . Put me in coach. Let’s make this series happen. #RoseTicoDeservedBetter @starwars

“OK, Disney+. Put me in coach. Let’s make this series happen,” Chu tweeted on Friday along with the hashtag #RoseDeservedBetter. He @-ed the official Star Wars account for good measure.
Co-writer Chris Terrio has responded to criticism about Rose’s smaller role in the saga’s finale. He said that he and co-writer J.J. Abrams “adore” Tran and only used her so little because it was so difficult to weave footage of late actress Carrie Fisher, who played Leia, into the movie.
“We wanted Rose to be the anchor at the rebel base who was with Leia. We thought we couldn’t leave Leia at the base without any of the principals who we love, so Leia and Rose were working together,” Terrio told Awards Daily. “As the process evolved, a few scenes we’d written with Rose and Leia turned out to not meet the standard of photorealism that we’d hoped for. Those scenes unfortunately fell out of the film.”
Tran received racist and sexist harassment after she was originally cast in “The Last Jedi” and eventually decided to leave social media as a result.
In a New York Times essay, Tran lamented her treatment, saying it “reinforced a narrative I had heard my whole life: that I was ‘other,’ that I didn’t belong, that I wasn’t good enough, simply because I wasn’t like them.”
If Disney+ were to green-light a Rose series, it would join several other “Star Wars” related TV shows being produced by the platform, including “The Mandalorian” and several shows expected to premiere in 2020.
