Got back from the theater last night. It was a nice story. It def managed to stay true to the main character, casting was spot on. It was a little slow at parts but overall def glad it turned out like it did. I think most people will enjoy it for what it is and shouldnt look too deep into things or take them so seriously. Even a couple pf parts managed to have me go. I was worried it wasn’t gonna be good but they stuck the landing. Might see again when it comes on streaming. People in here on the fence should def go see it and give it a chance. Tom Hanks killed it as Fred Rogers.
I’d give A Beautiful Day In the Neighborhood a 8/10.
They had showings for Star Wars last night too when i went to go see this mr rogers joint. Might check out the bootleg for that one in the future

Plus the fact that a force user cant sense the betrayal but another random officer that worked for palps before somehow figures it out and blasts him?? Palps had a fully staffed army waiting to go so why the countdown?
Starkiller destroyed the new republic so why didnt he just send the fleet out after TFA? Leia was blasted out of a ship into deep space only to float back to safety but telepathically saying “Ben” is the way she dies?!?!? Maybe thats all the footage they had of her left but damn that was fukking stupid
It’s that whole life force energy thing with leia tho. That’s how I took it anyway. Obviously from a practical standpoint, they didn’t have a lot of footage for her so you do what you gotta do, but narratively it’s just her doing a version of what luke did in last Jedi and it drained her just like it drained him.
I have no issue with that. My issue comes purely from a story standpoint with this flick.
Palpatine being back negates episodes 4-6 and most of all negates Vader’s sacrifice. Palpatine doesn’t need to be the Blofeld of this thing, “authoring everyone’s pain” because he was never meant to be this big bad. His rose to power was tied to Anakin and his death is also tied to Anakin. Having him come back in a. 11th hour twist that doesn’t fully explain the why or the how just makes it cheap and lazy.
Rey being his granddaughter is also cheap and lazy because for what? She can be tempted by the dark side without being related to Palpatine because that happens to all Jedi. Star Wars is about choosing your own destiny and path so it doesn’t matter if she’s got Palpatine blood lol. She never chose to be her own person which is why that last scene made me go “ugh” in the theater and laugh when the two suns set.
