OK, so I'm going at 10pm and when I went up to the theatre thats a couple blocks from my crib to get tickets early, I see it's not crowded at all, plus there were only a couple tickets already sold for the show at 10pm. mind u, I just bought them at 9pm. there's like 5 total tickets sold which is :mindblown:

Just saw it. I thought it was dope myself. Predictable, in a few parts for sure but dope. Plot was a a little too convenient at times, and Rey's lineage didn't need THAT to be the thing but I can live.

Haven't read any of the reviews but seen some random tweets. Not sure I get the whole it took a dump on the last movie sentiment.

so the Most Poweful Sith ever...

got hit by his own Force Lightning 3x (Mace Windu, vs Darth Vader, now Rey)

Papaltine unleashes full power Force Lightning that completely disables the entire Rebel Fleet of thousands of ships. Rey, who has interned for 2 summers as a Jedi, barely still alive can deflect it back with 2 lightsabers.

she heard the voice of every great Jedi right before that and I assumed thats where that power of the Force came from
Luke died when he used too much of it in the TLJ and she technically died in this until Kylo sacrificed himself

IMHO Star Wars has simply run its course.

Like, the original movie was an homage to thirties film serials like Flash Gordon. It's already built on a foundation of unoriginality (note that I like the original trilogy). It's creatively limited by its very nature.

And now you're simply doing homages to homages to homages. And the homages get worse and worse, the same way a bootleg sounds shyttier and shyttier the more it's copied.

Very good observation.

So are spoilers allowed, or if not how long before we don't have to tag them?

Anyway, it's probably a minority opinion but I was pleasantly surprised by the movie. Easily the best of the sequel trilogy and probably better than the prequels. I was entertained the whole time.

I'd probably give it an 8.5/10. There was one aspect of it I thought was corny though

I thought Leia's death somehow converting Kylo Ren was kind of cheesy and I didn't really understand how that was supposed to work.

Other than that I liked it and I thought the twist about Rey's parents was as well done as could be expected. Although I wish they had elaborated more on what Palpatine has been doing for the last 30 years.
