Can someone explain to me exactly why so many die hard Star Wars fans despise what Johnson did with The Last Jedi?

Like I can get someone not liking it all that much, and I certainly think it's a flawed film, but why does it provoke such anger from some Star Wars fans?

I'm not a huge Star Wars fan. The only Star Wars film I enjoy start to finish is The Empire Strikes Back, so I don't understand all the lore but it really befuddles me how the film provoked so much hate and it seems to go beyond just the usual braindead neckbeard mutants that these films attract. Even more senisble level headed fans seem act similarly.

Surprisingly was able to get a late ticket for an screening in an hour. I may share a 'love seat' with a fat guy but at least it frees up my weekend to do actual fun stuff.

While us casuals were asleep, watching the original trilogy, hardcore's were reading every book and Luke Skywalker was growing fast beyond anything we ever thought possible.

The bulk of the hate is this movie turned one of the most iconic heroes in movie history into a completely different character.Everything we knew about him in 3 previous films was thrown into the bushes, and all the decisions this Luke made are the exact opposite of what Luke Skywalker would do. Then all we see of his 30 years of jedi training is a magic trick

I can sum up everyone's biggest issue with TLJ.
Basically it's about luke.
Who we haven't seen since the early 80's when CGI, and movie tech was In its infancy
So with luke being the most powerful jedi ever we never got to see what he could really do.

Fast forward 30 years, we have the movie tech, also luke should still be the strongest jedi, the scene is set for you to bring him back against the new vader in kylo ten, everyone is expecting to see a super powerful luke and epic lightsaber duel like we got in revenge of the sith...


Nope.....what we got is luke astro projecting himself to the battlefield to stall for his sister's escape ..



That's what pissed people off

I originally got a ticket for Saturday. Decided to check how screenings tonight were looking and there was an open seat for an 8pm IMAX screening so I took it.
