Not that I have anything against gay/bisexual characters in SW but I'd be disappointed if they go this route. And it doesn't make much sense story wise. I don't think they will go in this direction anyway.

Don't feel like looking for my old post. But I'll just do a rundown of what I said before.

If BEFORE the movie came out somebody told us that Finn

1. He'd not be taken serious.
2. He'd be running around screaming looking for Rey and be the primary motivation for him to "find himself"
3. He'd be left comatose and Rey would leave him anyway
4. People would assume he's in a gay relationship Poe
5. People would make fun of him on twitter/message boards through memes (not because he might be gay, because he's just the silly scary character people like to make fun of)
6. He'd be using cringe worthy lines like "Droid, please." and looking incompetent around others while sounding like 1980s buddy cop movie.
7. He'd have a line about working sanitation to further discredit him (I get that its a job they all had to do, but why are they stressing just how shyt (no pun) Finn is?)



If we were all told this before the movie based on trailers, hype, build up......anyone with sense would go WTF

He's a friendzoned, scary, silly character whose only purpose (currently) is used to highlight the strength of others.

I'm not saying the performance was bad. It was good. I'm not saying the character is bad. How people accepted that letdown so quick I'll never know. I mean at least acknowledge the problems.

I think he's going to be better in Rian Johnson movie. But shyt like that is what I meant by JJ making things tough for Rian

No one takes him serious and most on the net don't know his purpose in these movies. Save us Rian

The writer/director of VIII tweeted this out a month ago, so anything is possible:

Regarding Finn's future in general... it's time to start managing expectations. They have obviously decided to make Rey the only heroic figure...

Rey took her first steps into a larger world in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and will continue her epic journey with Finn, Poe, and Luke Skywalker in the next chapter of the continuing Star Wars saga, Star Wars: Episode VIII, which began principal photography at Pinewood Studios in London on February 15, 2016.

... and all other characters, including Finn, are merely there to make her look better by comparison. That means Finn is not going to suddenly turn into an intelligent, competent, powerful, Force-sensitive jedi character in the next movie. He's going to continue to be used as comic relief.

I'm disappointed, but I'm certainly not going to waste the next 2 years expecting any better.

The amount of shyt JJ got away with is still to me.

Luke deflected like three shots from a training droid and heard Obi-Wan's voice a few times in ANH, he didn't really seem to have mastered the mind trick until Jedi.

Anakin simply had good reflexes in Episode I, and then had years of daily one on one training.

Rey was just mindtricking folk, levitating shyt and fighting off dudes (*cue the 'but he got shot by Chewie' crowd) with 0 training in the span of like...two days.

Unless she had force training and had her memory wiped, that shyt is just stupid.

He saw 'Star Wars' and just signed on the dotted line (wouldn't you)? He'd be sued for a shytload of money if he tried to break his contract, so there's really nothing he can do about Finn's portrayal at this point.

If he really did sign up for three films without having any insight into his character's story arc then yes, I would say that's a failure on his (and his agents) part. No, I wouldn't just sign up blindly, cause I have experience working in film and television and I know how they will just spring certain shyt on you-even during filming to see if you are thirsty and/or naive enough to go for it.

California is at will employment so there is always an out.
