Rogue One made TFA worse in hindsight... and basically ruined all future SW hype for me. I just can't get as excited as i used to.

TFA was a blast the first time I saw it. Yeah, it was a rehash, but I was able to put that aside b/c i just figured the plan was "we gotta ease these people in to the new movies. Give em some new shyt but keep the formula they know." Fine. Cool. This is standard "reboot, sequel" shyt in Hollywood. I really enjoyed it.

... then they fukkin made the most pointless movie of all time. "Well, this one's a dark gritty SW movie! it's a WAR!!!" and it was about a female lead climbling around inside of a death star.

I contend that if Rogue One wasn't made, and they did something completely different for once, the opinion on TFA wouldn't have slipped as much as it has, and a lot of people wouldn't be skeptical about TLJ/Episode 9

In conclusion, Rogue One was an absolutely pointless movie, and you will never sway this opinion.

TFA was wack af, rouge one was decent. Star wars is just meh for so long now. This new one has a cool trailer but so did tfa.

It can't be pointless if it was the better film


Plus it opened the door for more non Skywalker focused films and that can't be a bad thing. (I could care less about a Han Solo film but wouldn't mind a Yoda, Mace Windu or Obi Wan prequels)

I agree. The one thing I can't wrap my head around is the lack of Jedi/Sith/Lightsaber/Force etc in the new Star Wars movies. That was what made Star Wars so different than your normal Sci-Fi Fantasy. It's also one of the best things about the prequels. We actually followed around ACTUAL Jedi DOING Jedi things. We need more of that.

Episode 4-6 were nice but Luke wasn't a "Jedi" by any normal measure and he was basically the only one.

Rogue one was basically a Star Wars Rebels live action movie without the cool Jedi/Sith stuff..

And then with TFA we finally hear about a new Jedi Order/Academy only to find out that its destroyed and all the Jedi are gone again.

I think this is why so many people are drawn to the Old Republic Era because it seems like that was the definitive Star Wars Era and the current movie/skywalker era is like the great depression of a Galaxy that was once thriving with stories and wars and factions.

When you look back at some of the stories from the Old Republic Era it makes the Skywalker legacy seem insignificant to the big picture. Back then the force wasn't a mystery. Jedi and Sith weren't learning how to use the force, they were learning how to MASTER it in conventional and unconventional ways.

I'm not really looking forward to this Han Solo movie. Hopefully soon they can move onto Old Republic Era but I know it probably wont be until they've exhausted all Skywalker Era material.

He's complaining about there not being any Jedis or Sith in some of the movies which if you actually watched the movies you would know why there isn't. Its pretty much the entire plot and story of Star Wars as to why there ISN'T any Jedis or Sith just fukking roaming around.

Lol I think you just interpreted my post wrong. When i said "I can't wrap my head around there being no Jedi or Sith" I meant it as I couldn't understand why they took the story back in that direction of no Jedi when the Jedi and the Sith are the selling points to the Star Wars Universe.

I understand why there aren't any or very little in the story right now.

Did you not watch Revenge of the Sith? Order 66 killed all the Jedi except Yoda and Obi Wan.

The only Sith were Palpatine and Vader. You know the whole "Rule of 2"

Did you not watch Return of the Jedi? Yoda dies. Obi Wan died 2 movies prior. Vader killed Palpatine then died right after. Luke was the only one left.
