Bruh, you realize that both those movies made over 2 billion right?!? Avatar is at like 2.7 billion. It might have a chance at titanic but I don't know about Avatar. That shyt made 2 billion overseas alone.

The closest thing to Titanic is Jurassic World at 1.6 billion. Titanic is at 2.1 billion and then Avatar at 2.7 billion.

That China Market gonna help push this to near 3 Billie. Bet on that. Especially when this is being released the same time Avatar was released with ZERO competition for MONTHS. This can break the record.

Do they need to tho? Is there anything bigger then this?
if theyve aspired to be movie stars no but I am sure (especially in boyega's case) they want to be established actors so yes. There is something bigger, sustaining a steady career.
What part can you possibly play that can top being in star wars? Yea Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill might not have done much after but we know who they are 30 years later.
fair enough but starwars didn't exactly help christenson's career (or portamn/McGregor to a lesser degree as they were going to be what they are anyway) and that is in recent history

did the broad playing Leia go on to do big things. Mark Hamill himself didn't exactly end up having an illustrious film career did he? When the trilogy is done they could easily become Taylor lautners
1. There is a huge difference between now and 35 years ago; especially in terms of communication, the Internet, social media etc that will affect it.
2. From the limited amount that's been seen of them, they appear to be really good actors, are both young and will have major opportunities after or in between SW projects.

I agree but it's a 2 sided coin, on the flip side to your point due to those avenues consumers have become more fickle than ever. Like remember when they would say gaga was the new Madonna? When was the last song/video she released that had any traction. Kristin stewart, Robert Pattinson, zac efron, Megan Fox at one point all seemed like the next big things today non of them can draw for shyt. Being attached to a mega franchise is a sweet deal while it's in existence but it's not an indicator for guaranteed success, jennifer Lawrence is about to show us that.

This is how it should be done. Damn the prequels sucked so bad. You have got to be a Star Wars fanatic to enjoy any of them. Even the third prequel. Yes, it's better than the first two prequels but only because it's barely watchable (the PG-13 rating helped). This is the first legit Star Wars flick in over 30 years. This is what people wanted out of the prequels. Even on the nostalgia alone.. the two teasers and the trailer are twice as watchable as any of the prequel flicks.

I love that the trailer shows what we need to know without spoiling any of the story. All I know is there's a dude that wants to do what Vader was trying to do, and that the events from the first trilogy are like an urban legend, and that the force seems mystical again instead of that metachlorian (sp?) bullshyt.

The trailer was cut to perfection...yeah the prequels sucked because Lucas still owned everything and he wanted to do it his way.

Abrams is a modern day filmmaker and producer and know whats it takes to make these movies enjoyable to the masses

we can only see them from a distance in the trailer but doesn't it look like those first order leaders are wearing the same funny hats?
