Honestly, even though I'm hyped...I'm not even worried about it like that. This is gonna play well into February, maybe longer.

I understand wanting to see it day and date. But I'm personally cool with just letting the hoopla die down a bit, and just catching it during a quieter setting, where I can just sit back and enjoy....i
Unless that is, you're worried about like, special Imax seating or something. Those usually have a short theater run.

i went all the way into saturday and checked multiple theaters.. i mean i'm not surprised but i ended up having to cop one just for myself..i'll talk to wifey later

Nah breh. I think the masses have super hero fatigue right now. With DC dropping their trailers mad early and the X-Men leaks, I think its best for them to wait. Movie not dropping until May. I think not dropping it so far has been a good move by Marvel. Plus Disney doesn't want to distract from the Star War's hype. If they drop it on December 18th theatres will be at max capacity not to mention the number of people who will go see it multiple times. I hope they don't let it drop until then.

Most of the EU, pre-Disney, is no longer canon.

Here's a chart that shows what's canon (It's like a month old, so it might be missing some newer releases, but you get the idea) : Star Wars Timeline

Essentially, all that's canon now is the films, the cartoon shows, and the newly released Marvel comics.

I think that the original film novelizations are also still canon, but I'm not certain.

Everything else got tossed in the bushes.

Let's think about who the and what the result of being the Jedi is in these movies before we go boom/bust based on Boyega being a Jedi or not. Anakin was a Jedi..............................Ego maniac. Luke was a Jedi....................................Lonely, sister kissing with daddy issues. Obi Wan..............Never that great a fighter, ended up a hermet. Yoda.................was wrong as hell and pretty damn ignorant and learned his lesson too damn late. Duku, dead. Palpatine, dead egomaniac. Even Ahsoka quit because she was too good for all that. In the lore of Star Wars, if you want to take the black excellence angle, perhaps you want Finn to be closer to...............................Han Solo. Crush buildings, get the girl, save the day multiple times, the real moral compass of the everyman in the Galaxy. I hope they make him a force sensitive, but I can live with him living by "worst comes to worst, my peoples come first" mentality like Solo. Also have to remember this is a three movie arc(perhaps more depending on the the unannounced movies) that Ridley and Boyega are signed onto. Lots of development to go. The apparent hero of this episode could end up the baddie in the end.
