In the EU, before it got thrown in the bushes, non-Jedi's, and non-force users, used sabers all the time.

Boyega's character for this movie looks like blatant misdirection/smokescreen to hide who the real Jedi character of the movie is.

Aint no Stormtrooper being a Jedi in a first movie, future installments? most likely, but not at the start of a new trilogy.

Everything they're doing with him clearly mirrors Han and like you said he used the same lightsaber in Empire and also dressed as a Stormtrooper in the first one.
