They were Generals of the Clone Wars, established by Leia :yeshrug:

Tarkin calls Jedi-hood an ancient religion but we know for a fact that Obi-Wan is still around, and that Vader was once a Jedi. Tarkin also knows this.

He was just insulting the Jedi to me. As for that cac and Han not believing in Jedi powers, that seems plausible as the average citizen probably never even saw the Jedi. And when we actually saw the Jedi in public they never openly flaunted their powers.

I take Episode II as an example again, none of those people had reason to believe Obi-Wan/Anakin had powers - they were just like cops.

okay well explain this...

why does vader have an english accent in the OT but not in the PT :wtb:

I know . I know breh... :pachaha: Lucas should have set it back 30 or 40 years...

Like I said people still knew of them so wiping them out while fukked up. People like han was like its mumbo jumbo bullshyt. He didn't believe in it. Even that dude that Vader had Choked was like it was bullshyt. Maybe there was so many people who just didn't believe in them.

Breh If the US government wiped out all the Hare Krishnas in a pre-internet world the would coulda easily forgot about it in 20 years. Hell in 20 years people totally forgot about the US bombing Kosovo.

It's James Earl Jones breh, not an English accent.

However, they did write Vader as if he was some classy ass aristocrat or sth - not sure where that came from. George said he intentionally wrote akward Anakin lines in Episode II because he wanted Anakin to try and impress Padme. Perhaps he mastered his class game.

Don't really have an answer for that though. Except that it's not an English acccent, it's actually black excellence.

that's what i mean. vader is a completely different character from anakin and has a completely different personality. there is no evidence whatsoever that suggests hayden christensen's character would mature into the elegant, classy james earl jones. they don't even talk the same.

i can't imagine there's anyone out there that watches the OT and envisions hayden christensen beneath that mask.

I'm telling y'all - this 'ancient religion' shyt, IF a flaw, is one of Star Wars. Not the prequels. Y'all are taking a few insults by IMPERIAL COMMANDERS and a SMUGGLER way too serious. It is true that there are people that don't believe in the force...But 20.000 Jedi in a universe of trillions nand them not having been around for 20 years, I think that's plausible.

It's only a flaw now because of what Lucas did with the PT. That's what happens when you try to shoehorn in explanations and fail miserably at fan service.

Coruscant was only integral in the prequels because we had to see how the Emperor took over the Republic, it's one planet out of endless.

It's like expecting Chinese villagers to be totally aware of what the FBI is doing (and that would be even more likely if we're talking relative numbers).

It's not just one planet though. Corsucant is literally the center of the Star Wars universe, and home to all the big galaxy shyt: republic, senate, Jedi council.

I think people are missing that the Jedi were in the center of the actual goverment. They didn't extend beyond that; they just camped out in the ivory tower of Capitol City, occassionally went out as glorified bodyguards but hardly ever flexed their powers. They weren't an army and just like they were oblivious to the Sith and the outside world, the outside world was oblivious to them. It was stated in both PT and OT that the Republic/Empire didn't pay attention to the little planets and their were far more little planets free of the Empire than part of it. Even Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru knew that Anakin was some twisted mofo that turned on his squad and is now evil Sith Lord Lap Dog for the Emperor and Luke was oblivious to the force.

I doubt that even in the OT, anyone knew the Emperor was Jedi/Sith. By that time, they only knew Vader, and he had a fraction of his peak powers. From Ep IV, it seems like he always went around mentioning the "Force" and dudes got tired of it. Like STFU, ain't no more Jedi that you keep mentioning. Stop talking about in your day.

Also remember that Palpatine was wiping out all those who opposed the Empire as well; most likely those that were witness to the force. He had to cover his tracks. The more you think about it, for the most part you can tie the OT and PT together quite nicely.

It's similar to us older fol trying to explain '96 and y'all younger folk not believing it was like that.

as crazy as this is about to sound but I think this was just dudes interpretation of what a Sith is...

Part of being a Sith is about being sort of a whirlwind of emotion. Embracing sorrow, anger, fear, dread and whatnot, using it to fuel your powers. While Jedi are all about being tranquil and being at peace with the force even in battle. I kinda like that Palpatine is cool and collected when doing anything BUT fighting...

:ohhh: didn't even think of the limb thing effecting his power

you would think the emperor would make him 2nd in charge regardless.. "thinking" they were the last two in the universe with the force and he knew darth's power and legend

but if he thought he was weak too, he might have handed out that demotion

I don't know how, it seemed clear that Vader was a shell of his actual power. He looked like a defeated, decrepit old man in RotJ, and that should've been enough indication. Episode 3 Vader was the strongest Jedi of all of the films
