I just don’t get why they couldn’t have this in the the Abramverse? Quinto could have a cameo and the way it tied into the timeline wouldn’t matter

Been a fan of trek all my life, i like it more than star wars ( which went from corny to why?) I like discos, I have to say the first two episodes were "bad" because I didn't know what they were doing but I'm cool with the rest

I haven't watched this series yet...but I'm glad it's in the old universe.
The new films are garbage and I refuse to even count them as Star Trek. I didn't even watch the latest one.

Star trek beyond was the only one of the new ones that felt like star trek. You should check it out. If it makes you feel better it was not directed by jj.
Maybe at some point. Right now I gotta get caught up with Discovery.
I feel you its just some of the liberties they have taken with this one would have made alot more sense in the Abrams verse imo.

Michael Burnham is such a flawed character, something we’ve never seen in Star Trek. I find myself rooting against her sometimes even though she ultimately trying to do the right thing. I think that’s about as contemporary in terms of writing as you can get
This episode was a nice gut punch for Michael. That shyt is tough. Probably my favorite episode of the series so far because of the emotional stakes

But for real tho, Discovery is “darker” than an Star Trek content ever and it simply works for this show. Before this the darkest things have gotten was Picard/the Borg (IMO). This show deserves more than being on a streaming service even tho die hard Trek fans still get the show any way they can.
