The year 3030
Hate to say this, but I'm having a hard time caring about any of these characters.

I like the actress, but the writing doesn't really give her much to do.

Compare her to Naomi Nagata from the Expanse

The Exxpanse team gave her a much better arc.
same...maybe it's fatigue, but i just don't care, lol

this scavenger hunt shyt is tired

The last three episodes were much better than that time bug one, but you can tell this was not meant to be the final season, and where they're cutting things to try to wrap it up.

L'ak and Moll being apprehended off screen feels like a consequence of their episode count being cut.

They had five seasons on a streaming service in fifth place, they should have know the ride was going to end when the merger talks started with Warner and Comcast.

Sony and Apollo already said they cutting support to Paramount plus/Showtime. @win83 @wire28 @beaniemac @obarth @Peter Popoff @Bryan Danielson @Bleed The Freak @TheNatureBoy @Lootpack

When they get to the Progenitor place, that's some damn good sci-fi. The last 30 minutes was not worth the watch. And even though they tied the last episode to Calypso, we still have more questions than answers.

It was decent send off, I kind like how they showed the captain in the latter years. The Kovich reveal was a nice tie in to other treks.

This season had way too many emotional moments though....

The finale was ok I guess, but damn if those last fifteen minutes didn't feel tacked on. Everything from the scene where Booker and Burnham leave Saru's wedding on felt like it was rewritten because they knew the show was canceled.

I was happy that they brought Owo and Detmer back for that final flashback scene, but it was another reason the scene felt tacked on since they were nowhere to be found at Saru's wedding. Felt like they called the actresses back last minute, as they should have. Even though they didn't do shyt the whole show, they had both been there since season one, and I was already disappointed in how they were written out in the second half of the season.

Also, that flashback scene on the bridge did not have the emotional weight it was intended to, as most of the supporting cast was horribly underutilized. None of the bridge crew did anything of note the whole series, and we don't know the fates of any of the characters besides Saru and Tilly, and we don't even know what the aftermath of the Progenitors' mission was.

I had been saying this whole season that it was obviously not intended to be the final season until it got canceled, and this episode really proved it with those last fifteen to twenty minutes. You could tell they definitely wanted (and needed) at least one more season to truly give the show a proper send off.

Once Prodigy and Lower Decks end later this year it'll leave Strange New Worlds as the only remaining Trek show of the Paramount+ era. :francis:

That's exactly what happened.

Also they toyed with the idea of having the last shot being Grudge on the Captain's chair. Wish we had got that, especially as Grudge is a far better character AND actor than Burnham!

The more I thought about the more I thought being in a race with crooks didn't feel like Star Trek to me, so yeah, I jumped out after the flashback episode

i finished the finale this morning. This season was a let down as a finale. It turned into Emotion-Trek.
all that just to get to the Progenators (sp?) and they just tell her "we don't know who built this shyt either...throw this shyt in the trash for us" :stopitslime:

A B grade finale to go with a B grade season. I wasn't wowed but I wasn't angered by it. Ultimately Discovery was a Star Trek show that had a lot of great ideas but often botched the execution. Maybe it would've turned out better if the original showrunner wasn't clipped soon after the show started or Discovery got two more seasons as originally intended.

At least we got Strange New Worlds out of this. Now THAT'S what Star Trek should be.
