Hate him or love him it can’t be denied that Superman ushered in the Superhero wave. Hell before him the term Superhero wasn’t used but crime fighters. He changed the game and was the template for all the heroes that came after. Not giving him his due is ridiculous all to hype Marvel up.
Nope

Superman is *the* "superhero".

Donald Blake Thor was a pastiche of Clark Kent.

Peter Parker

And so forth. Basically every superhero before the X Men with people like Logan who's just Logan in or out of uniform.

But the problem with old superheroes is the writers make them stronger and stronger over the years.

Batman is basically Superman level. Flash. Hulk. Wondy. Even Captain America. Think about what use a dude like Cap is against Thanos. But he's always there when shyt like that goes down.

With Super it's gotten out of hand. He can just do anything at this point so there's no

Drama

No stakes

Goku suffers from this, but since his whole shtick is leveling up to face stronger opponents, he always is up against a difficult obstacle.

Now that he's the strongest fighter in the multiverse or w/e, they are gonna have a hard time finding new opponents. I lost interest after Z tho. The same problem as Walking Dead. Just going in circles doing the same shyt.

There's really no fixing Superman unless you make him the physically strongest but nerf his other stats so that Flash can own speed. Etc.

Superman is more of a spin-off from Slam Bradley who I believe was inspired by Doc Savage.

Doc Savage and those other pulp heroes were the inspiration for a lot of the super heroes from the golden and early silver age because that's what the comic writers of those days grew up reading.

Captain Marvel is probably the closest to Superman in the golden age, and he ended up out selling Supes through most of the 1940s. So much so that DC had to sue Fawcett causing the company to fold, and now Captain Marvel is second tier in DC like Supes didn't learned to fly till after Captain Marvel :stopitslime:

I don't him being the strongest really makes it difficult to tell a story you just tell different types of stories.

The Flash is faster
I know Superman was depowered post crisis and I do believe that is still the case. He is weak to magic and DC's magic realm is like Marvel's cosmic realm, imo, so he isn't completely unstoppable.

Which is why captain marvel should be able to beat superman

Also captain atom and firestorm should beat him with ease
