7 was remade into an entirely new game so that's clear, but what in particular stands out to you as something that wouldn't fly?

I actually think the majority of it holds up except the small mini-game style segments where the characters split up, and the parts of the game that are basically "game guide" moments (like you wouldnt know how to keep shadow alive unless you read a walkthrough)
The pacing for the story goes so fast. You barely get to know some of these characters and then they’re in your party like y’all deep friends. This whole game is barely longer than just the first part of the FFVII remake. I’m at about 20 hours and I can see the end stretch coming in the next 10 or so hours.

I feel like they’d need to expand upon the game and make it a longer larger in scope game and I doubt they’d do that.

I see what you mean on that, and really it's a product of it's time. It's only the 2nd really big story focused FF outside of 4, which had even more problems. There's definitely underdeveloped characters in the game but most FFs do.

The 2nd half of the game is dependent on you, you can seek out the rest of the game or you can go straight to the end. I've actually always liked that format for it.

I think a remake would have to cut down the playable cast and give more screen time to characters that feel neglected towards the end, but other than that I think it comes together pretty well.

I think cutting it down the playable cast would also work. Some of these other 30 hour JRPGs have cast of like 6 or less characters so they get more focus.

Funny he legit gave the answer in the tweet why it hasn't been started yet.
Because it would be difficult. A lot of people underestimate A. How big the game was and B. The amount of 2D cartoonist tomfoolery that would be difficult to translate to 3d

How do you translate the ghost train fight where Sabin suplexes a train to 3d?

:mjlol:

How about Edgar putting on a Jason mask and cutting enemies with a chainsaw?

They already translated the ghost train fight to 3d in a ffxiv 8-man raid years ago :ld:

The Locke stripping down merchants and putting on their clothes in front of them before they run away in their underwear situation out of context is way funnier than in context.

Considering how willing they were to step to him in first place, he probably held eye contact with them the whole time just to get them scared enough to run.

Imagine the shyt people were talking about him in South Figaro after that. Wanted signs for stripping down men against their will so he could harass an old drunk. They knew who he was. Thats what caused shyt to pop off.

in the streets of South Figaro, Locke is a menace.

I agree but a lot of people want a ff vii remake level of game
But I don't see it being feasible and keeping the wacky tone of the original
Considering all the creative license and liberties they seems to be taking with Rebirth, every Square Enix exec and creative would be obligated for seppuku.

I'm good with the Pixel remaster butwould be open (but skeptical) to a 3D remake if the right people are involved.

I dont need to hear Gau voice or Kefka's laughed voice acted.

Suplexing a goddamn zombie train in 4K is PRECISELY why I need them to remake this game. :gucci:
