Acceptable. If 3 & 4 can get remade on the DS I don't see why 6 is the only really popular one that's stuck in its original form. Hell they could bring it up to PS1 standards like Final Fantasy VIII or IX and that would be fine.

The genre really needs to let go of turn base. I would rather have a ff6 remake that looks and plays like horizon west and let’s me map Sabina blitz combos and Terra’s magic to the r1 wheel

Some folks enjoy turn based though.

As long as it has some spice and isn't bare bones I'm still wit it.

Persona 5 is turned based and its masterpiece.

Totally disagree. For YEARS almost anyone who's older than 27 says when it comes to RPGs its a toss up between VI and Chrono Trigger for best RPG ever. Even if they like other ones better.


There's a generational split at X. I've noticed almost everyone under 27 says X is their favorite and 7 is the best.

Having played through most of the Pixel Remaster of VI it would need extensive work to be remade into a modern game. Probably more effort that Square would be willing to give.

I know the hardcore fans love it but the mainstream audience probably not gonna be there in enough numbers to justify it.

too large of a game with too many moving pieces and stylistic choices that is at odds with other parts of the game. Something like IV would be much more easy to translate

7 was remade into an entirely new game so that's clear, but what in particular stands out to you as something that wouldn't fly?

I actually think the majority of it holds up except the small mini-game style segments where the characters split up, and the parts of the game that are basically "game guide" moments (like you wouldnt know how to keep shadow alive unless you read a walkthrough)
