The Celtics have zero incentive to overpay for Kawhi. While obviously he makes them better, they're in a position where they don't need him to contend for championships, thus makes overpaying pointless.

Nah. Ainge only do trades where he fleecing the other team (Nets trade and Fultz trade). Everybody know they ain't giving up Tatum and I've read that he really doesn't want to move Brown either in a Kawhi trade.

What deal from the Lakers is so much better? Unless you get Kuzma and Ingram + change you're not getting fair value anyway. So there's no reason for them to facilitate a trade to his team of choice.

And if the FO doesn't draft and develop Tony, Manu, Kawhi, etc to put around him and install a system where role guys can excel then Tim is not a top 10 player all time.

Duncan never had to go through the lulls with deficient rosters Kobe, KG, Tmac, etc had to go through wasting prime years and he should be thankful.

Losing Kawhi is obviously a hit, but they will draft and develop well, and their motion/screen heavy stem will always make winning in the RS attainable without a supreme ISO talent.

Now losing Kawhi and Pop is not something the Spurs could come back from.
