Regardless of what you think of The Neptunes, they were bigger than Fresh in 2000.

Dre went into 2000 with 2001. It dropped November 1999, but had songs that were still in rotation throughout summer 2000. Like it or not, there was Eminem's MMLP. Then he had joints on Xzibit's Restless, which was the biggest album of X's career. Dre ended 2000 with work on Snoop's Last Meal, which is one of Snoop's better albums.

I don't care how big you are. im not ranking you high if your chit is trash to my ears.
and I wouldn't even say they were bigger than mannie in 2000. cash money was still peaking in popularity and he did all the beats and the big tymers album was a big deal.
besides, what did the neptunes have besides the mystikal singles, that drove away mystikal's core audience?

those dre beats weren't hotter than mannie's chit.
lol @ the beats on MMLP. if anything, he loses points for most of those.

Is this about popularity, buzz n sales? Then:

they play a part.

also streets, clubs, impact, influence, etc]

ultimately, I have a few picks that didn't even drop a retail release but still made the list.

Dre had:

2001 still huge in 2000

Cube's "Hello"

MMLP (regardless of how you feel, Dre's work on this was still a big deal)

Multiple songs on Xzibit's Restless

Multiple songs on Snoop's Last Meal

The Neptunes

Multiple songs on Mystikal's Let's Get Ready

Jay Z's "Give It To Me"

Luda's "Southern Hospitality"

Only beat I like on that list is project chick.

those aren't even among his best beats that year, besides #1 stunna.

i was just listing big hits because of who I was arguing with.

A lot of Mystikal's core audience were still on the "bandwagon" when that song dropped.

you know what I mean.

by the time "danger" dropped, the album, and it became apparent that he was done with no limit.

I also really liked the beat he gave Westside Connection (I think it was a Mack 10 song). Outside of that, I don't really care for Manny Fresh's beats at all. :yeshrug:

Mannie Fresh's best beats were used on UNLV albums like Mac Melph Calio and Uptown 4 Life

Mike E Clark was a better producer in 1999 if we keep it a buck
