I'm in Japan right now, and I'd have to say that they're better.

  1. Waaaay better Healthcare system.
  2. People are more unified... because the country is homogeneous, but you rarely have to worry about racism because they're equally weary of all foreigners regardless of skin color:mjlol:.
  3. Waaaay more safe.
  4. IF you work for an American company or the U.S. military, you get to completely bypass the shít work culture.
  5. Waaaaay healthier food.
  6. Government isn't actively trying to become a dictatorship.
  7. Public transportation... that is all that needs to be said.
  8. I'd argue that the nightlife might be better, honestly.
  9. More modern architecture and society.
  10. There's a better chance to standout there. You being able to speak English and Japanese fluently makes you one of the few that can do both. In fact, only 10% of the country can speak both languages.
America is only better in regard to socializing, diversity, security from outside rule, and a few others.
I lived there for 6years and would go back. I actually considered applying for a job on base but didn’t want to uproot the fam. Once the kids are on their own ill probably go back... I agree with all of this.

Yeah man I knew a few coli brehs would like Japan.

I know US sailors that get station in Japan and they have the time of their lives. Marines too it's stories about them getting Drunk and basically pissing off the locals. Dudes don't know how to act.

You mentioned food I feel that's very important is it a lot to choice from in Japan? I feel like for some reason it's mainly seafood but I could be wrong never been to Japan.
Yeah, it's a lot of black Americans here who absolutely love the place. Like I said, the Japanese are very reserved, so you won't know that they hate your guts until the doors are closed and you're far out of sight. It's a stark contrast from America where kats will fúck with you just because it's 8AM on a Thursday and they got yelled at by their wife or some shít. That's a huge plus for many of us.

The food variety is the one knock that I will give Japan. If you love seafood, unique dishes ( I had a shrimp and bisque burger for lunch:wow: ), Asian cuisine in general, you'll love it here. Huge bonus points for the shít actually tasting good while being healthy.

America is incredibly unique because you can have a Jamaican, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese, American, Thai, Russian, French, etc. restaurant in the same city. Japan DOES NOT have that level of variety:pachaha:.

Although, I will say that they have much more consistency in that regard. The food quality in Japan doesn't fluctuate from restaurant to restaurant that much.

You're better than me. I would have their asses in Yokosuka learning Japanese like yesterday:pachaha:.

I see how these GS workers live and I can't wait for that to be me. You deadass have Americans and Japanese making 6-figures in a land where a Japanese man making $40k a year (convert that to yen) can net a family of 3 a decent life.

AND the yen is weak as hell right now. I can go out in town to shop at a grocery market and fill up my fridge for $75-100. This shít is cushy as fúck. I see why níggas don't want to leave once they get here. Japanese women are high-key some hoes, the dollar is strong here, the culture is quiet and peaceful. The only thing I hate is the language barrier.

Don't know about "better", I think there are trade-offs between every country, but there are plenty of good places to live outside of US

Scandinavian countries (these are pretty much the pinnacle of in terms of QoL)
Japan
I like London as a city a lot (reminds me of NYC)
Kenya (I have a friend that's planning to move his family to Kenya in the next 5 years)

Once you got money, the world is your oyster. If you struggling in America, you gonna be struggling everywhere.
This not true or accurate but a blanket statement. You forgot to mention networking skills, knowing numerous languages and adapting to cultures with rules in any given country. A person with money doesn't just erase all of that.

I've traveled to 15+ countries and met Americans, Europeans and Canadians from major cities who were working standard 9/5 jobs struggling but turned into successful entrepreneurs outside of their country. Many people are afraid of change and love routine but will complain about things they can change.

On the other hand I've also met remote workers that make money in higher currency but live way better internationally where currency is weaker. Cost of living and what you get with higher currency has many people living like they are millionaires overseas when they only make less than 6 figures internationally.

Again, no lies detected.

My issue with uprooting m is we live 30 minutes from the grandparents and 2 minutes from her cousins. We also have custody of a cousin which would make the move complicated.

But with all that said, there is a lot of upside in being there, which you outlined perfectly.

The language barrier wasn’t much of an issue. I learned enough to get around and had I immersed I could’ve become fluent.

I think Singapore is in my opinion

-Extremely high development index
-Low crime, drug trafficking is essentially non-existent
-One of the cleanest countries in the world
-Country was founded with multiculturalism and diversity as core tenets
-Very high literacy rate and top education system
-One of the top nations in life expectancy and healthcare rankings
-Strongest passport in the world, always tops the list for most countries permitted without visa

You pull up any random infographic on country rankings and Singapore is usually in the top. I'd exchange my US citizenship for Singaporean citizenship in a heartbeat.

I guess one flaw would be that they have a bit of an authoritarian government. Censorship issues, single party rule, protesting discouraged, etc. And I've read that they have a cost of living problem like many extremely developed nations. Running out of land too.

Good luck getting citizenship.

I got a co-worker from Guam. Pre-pandemic all dude could talk about was Guam. Post-pandemic dude moved back to Guam and hasn't looked back. I know that software engineer money is doing him right over there.

I mentioned in the other thread, I think Oceania is another really underrated region (the entire continent) . Chill culture, beautiful scenery, they're highly STEM, clean air, high Freedom Score on multiple islands, diverse and beautiful people, etc.

Some people love it over there. I have a buddy who moved there 7 years ago and has no plans to leave.

As for me, 2 months was enough.

Music is a big part of my life personally and most african-americans I know whether it's gospel, funk, R&B, Blues, Soul, Rap, etc. Music is a great way to regulate emotions. Not sure I want to live in a country or region where the predominate choice of music was let's say Polka or K-Pop or something else. But I'm a muscian so I may be bias.

With that said what country if any do you think is better than the USA Mr.Barker?
Typing this like African American music isn’t globally loved. What country doesn’t love R&B, Funk, Gospel etc. … especially Black countries is the real question.

What country do you think if any is better than the USA? I agree my emphasis was on it being the predominate choice of music as you see in the quote.
