I basically been living in Japan for half a year for the last two years. It’s real nice and I have no fears.

Is it better than the US? I tell people this all the time. The US has three to five things going for it if you are American. Culture, language, convenience, “low” corruption, and economic mobility.

If you are cool with being an outsider, not knowing the local language, and not getting things instantly (Amazon or Walmart) you can live anywhere.

When I say low corruption I mean in many “3rd world” countries, you have to pay to play. I need to get my business license in Belize. I have to go up to the official “allegedly” and pay him on the side to get my paperwork approved.

In Japan, it seems to be tough to make 100K plus the taxes are “higher” than the US.

At the end of the day, I would love my family out here and possibly will next year.

The USA has the 3rd largest population in the world. Easy for other countries to have "social safety nets" if they don't have to worry about a massive population
We're one of the wealthiest countries on Earth and spend by far the most on the military. Priorities.

Define "wealthy". Any country/organization that is in alot of debt (bad debt at that) will never be considered wealthy. Their "priority" should be attacking this large debt instead of installing "social safety nets" that smaller countries have the luxury to do

I do the same and I've compared the avg middle class person in any of the countries I've been to lives better than middle class people in America. The people with jobs and low earners are happier than 100k-150k earners in America. The dilemma with western world is work and home life balance I know miserable people who make 200-350k a year in America and $300USD a month people overseas who are happy and content.

I don't know how to say this without sounding ignorant or offending people.......but here it goes :sadcam:

it seems people in the islands and Europe just live slow. I think those cultures play a part in to why people are or appear to be more "happy."

The U.S. is really built for the fast life. and its sink or swim. So if you can't move at that pace and really hustle you won't make it.

But the opportunity is there at least; and if you're built for it you can thrive.

The islands and Europe is so different. I was shocked when dinner is like a 3 hour thing :russ:

Everyone also parties all the time. It just feels real care free. :wow:

parties seem to never end......:blessed:

The crux of it though in foreign places is that it seems like there isn't really much emphasis on ownership at all. :lupe:

It almost feels like a lot of people are just content with wherever they're at and just go through the motions.

In the US a lot of people are aiming high and really hustling running and gunning for upward mobility(the real hustlers with big dreams)

There just isn't time in the US to live the laid back slower lifestyle.....you won't get anywhere. :manny:

I think its a combination of personality/ambition/culture.

I personally like the rat race of the U.S.

Not sure if this makes sense; just my interpretation.

You are wrong about ownership most people I've come across have rental properties and invest in projects that give them back returns. They don't brag and flaunt like western world people do. I've seen millionaires drives pretty basic cars and dress casually were you wouldn't know how much money they sitting on. The average working man who works 40+ hours will tell you the same. The society is setup for burn out and once these people lose a job due to lay offs or health matters its pretty much where it all begins.

That hustle and work life ruins families and is what leads many down the slope of mental health and substance abuse for millions in America. I worked in corporate America for 10+ years I've been around people who have money and 90% of them were miserable battling martial issues, substance abuse or lost their minds.

Can you be more specific? I only know the islands and Europe like that.....where I've been told its very difficult to actual own anything.

I know a lot of people who "owned" property that was easily stolen in the islands.

and in Europe they act like renting is the only way.

My experiences come from the countries below. We are talking about two different things you are speaking about Europe and Carribean Islands which is what I'm not referring to.

Africa- Nigeria, Ghana, Morocco and South Africa
Asia- Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.
Middle East- UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
South America- Colombia, Chile and Brazil.

As a black man I fukks with Canada. Québec especially has a really good thing going with their social and health services. But you can tell their system is getting pushed to the brink with the hige influx of immigrants

I think if Rwanda stays on the current trajectory they're on now then in a couple years it could also be better quality of life than America as a black man. I know a couple brehs that moved there with wife and kids. Their kids love it. Even said the other kids in school there are way nicer than the kids in their class back in America. When your child tells you something like that how can you even argue?:wow:

They gotta work on the food though :scust:

@Westbama Heartthrob created a thread asking do you believe the United States is the greatest country in the world and the poll was split roughly 60/40 with the majority thinking the USA is not my question is what countries do you feel are better and why? Best military? Best Entertainers? Best Athletes? Best Food? Best Quality of Life? ETC

Poll.png

I think a lot of tech and Anime fans will say Japan. Might have some native Canadian and European coli posters will say their country is the best but I mainly want to hear from Americans.
It depends on what’s important

For making money, entrepreneurship, trades, quality education (not a hood school), business, business incubators, finance , investing, Housing, real estate, career growth, etc… USA I think is the best place. Ive been all over the world. USA and many Americans have a can do attitude. If you have an idea, business idea… you can find ppl to help build it out. Many ppl around the world feel like they can rise only so much. Many Americans believe there are no limits. I truly believe that if you dedicate yourself to your craft in America… there’s a 90-95% you’ll achieve it… this doesn’t include sports and entertainment and becoming the president tho but most other things

Cons: I dont think USA has the best family values. There’s often a higher importance placed on individualism and “happiness” and not always working thru problems… or ppl can really be self centered and shallow

Food is very unhealthy
Healthcare system is expensive and inefficient as we know
USA is expensive IMO compared to other countries. Most places I visit seem very cheap even London seems cheaper.

If you got money… or decent money, america can be great… if you broke… it will be tough

Countries better than USA assuming you’re middle class

For safety and raising a family: Japan, Australia, england, Ireland, Germany, Scandinavia, Singapore, Hong Kong, maybe Netherlands

Healthcare: most first world countries are better

Food: most first world and Asian countries are better than America in terms of food quality
