I'm gonna let this ride for now although I'm not sure we needed a poll because 3 guys said they preferred "The Avengers" in another thread. But :yeshrug:

Also the "stan" baiting is treading dangerously close to The Arcadium. Let's not do that.

A more interesting poll would be which is worse, "TDKR" or "Ironman 3".

Fred.

So Coli, which movie do you like more? :sas2:

Iron Man 3 took an incredible villain in The Mandarin and reduced him to a comedy character. Then they replaced him with another generic tech villain who was less interesting than the two tech villains that preceded him.

There were some issues with The Dark Knight Rises but the direction and the acting was still levels above Iron Man 3. Anne Hathaway was very good as was Hardy. There were still some truly epic scenes in The Dark Knight Rises. I would have to go with that even though it was a disappointment. The only thing saving Iron Man 3 from being one of the worst comic book movies to date was Downey Jr.'s one liners.

TDKR is like a 6.5/10

Iron Man 3 was like a 4/10

They were both bad for their own entirely different set of reasons but TDKR reached high points that IM3 didn't sniff so TDKR.
I am glad someone was bold enough (in a sea of Nolan tadpole swallowers) to admit it. The dark knight rises didn't have the benefit of following one of the worst batman movies made. Or the death of an actor who played a significant character to the protagonist to ride off. TDRK was just ask to deliver on its own merits and it failed. In saying that it beats the garbage that was iron man 3 easily. I pay to watch iron man do action Tony stark do everything else. You going to make Tony stark not even need to suit up half the time why even call it iron man, call it the chronicles of Mr stark or something :camby:

One of my biggest beefs with IM3 was the fact that all of a sudden Tony could control the IM suits without having to wear them.

Completely sucks the tension right from the movie.

And what's the point of wearing a fully armored, fully weaponized, FLYING suit if you're gonna engage the bad guy in hand to hand combat??:mindblown: Just hover like 20 feet above him and blow his ass up!!

maybe my memory is failing but the way I saw it they didn't turn the mandarin into anything Ben Kinsley was an actor who was played to play a bin Laden type terrorist figure head "who just went by the name" the mandarin. Its really not as engregous as other worst crimes ie sidelining iron man in favour of the rdj vanity project

I actually dug the Mandarin twist :manny:

Having no knowledge or attachment to the Iron Man universe outside of the movies it didn't really bother me. But I could understand why a huge fan would be bothered by it.

But imo it was actually pretty clever... and funny too.

That's not really the point, though. Even if you aren't familiar with the character.. the villain they replaced it with was awfully generic and a lesser version of characters we had already seen in the previous two,

Yea don't get me wrong I thought he was awful and it did kinda undermine the twist... but I'm sayin the twist in and of itself didn't bother me.
