with TI etc etc were all garbage to me. How many times yall played them again?

Schooling people takes forever; don't bother
there's detox mixtapes on datpiff. if all the songs on detox got released today, it would really be a 10-disk album spanning like 15-20 years because he did stop Detox to record Compton after the NWA movie

I really think that some of these "leaks" were strategic to see what songs the crowd would vibe towards while others are clearly stolen given how many people collaborated to make the songs. but the supposed "singles" for detox like "I need a doctor" was more pop-centric and idk if Dr Dre can take any backlash on his music just to gut everything and start over

Dr Dre basically used every excuse not to drop detox...I think the main ones being The Game leaving G-Unit and The Game couldn't write for Dr. Dre or release the Game collaborations for Detox because of 50...then when the Game took pictures with Dr Dre in the studio years later, 50 still was applying pressure on Dr Dre to not have him around or even have residual Detox publishing to go to The Game probably because 50 also wrote for Dre to not be on the same album as him....just get Crooked I to ghostwrite west coast shyt for your music...and then when Dr Dre sounded too much like eminem or your favorite rapper ghostwriting for him, there was backlash and the reference tracks kept leaking, so he probably scrapped those songs given people heard them already, etc, and then once he dropped Compton to clear his mind, it was 'announced' he was going to drop Detox the beginning of this year but then he had his divorce, brain aneurism, and divorce battle over financials...just when we get a little bit of hope, it gets delayed again...idk just drop another album instead

2006 is the correct answer

the industry went a completely different route in 2007 both image and music wise

Dre and Eminem were gone, 50 stayed on the scene and fell off, Aftermath was basically done

I just want to hear that song him and too short did :mjcry:

During the interview, $hort reveals that the pair worked on an unreleased track called "Man's Best Friend," one of over two-hundred songs currently lining Dre's Detox vault. Citing the track as having been recorded around 2012, $hort clearly looks back on the session fondly. “I did an eight-hour session to record the verse, then I did an eight-hour session to touch up the verse," explains $hort. "Then he called me back for four hours just to say ‘the p*ssy.' For four hours. And when he played it back, I had no regrets."

"I never sounded like that in my life, and I only heard it a few times," he continues. "I never got to hear it that much anymore. Other people told me about it, but it’s just one of those things, man. It’s in the universe somewhere. It was for Detox, but he also made 200 plus other songs for Detox."

Detox was coming since 02-03, so I'd say 4th Qtr 2004 or top of 2005, at latest.

I'm not going to lie if the leaked Detox singles that came out in the late 00s were any indication of what that album was going to be I'm glad it stayed in the vault.
