I thought Hot Rod would be garbage, instead shyt is still hilarious to this day, definitely a slept on comedy.

21 Jump Street I had zero expectations for, but loved it.

Derailed - Just was a third wheel my cousin and his wife (then just dating) and I didn't really care, but, I was :krs: at the twist

I saw it a couple of weeks ago (late night TV) and it holds up

The Dark Knight - just expected another solid Batman flick like Batman Begins

'Drive', I was like I'll just check this out, saw the previews, had little interest, and some review on a forum compared it with Michael Mann's earlier stuff, and that sold me, I was going to see something else, but I saw 'Drive', and, that was probably my movie of the year.

'Last Night', Keira Knightley, read a little preview of the movie in EW, saw it memorial day weekend, one of my favorites of the year.

'Celeste and Jesse Forever', just saw an Ebert review, and was between that and 'Lawless', went with that, and it's easily the best movie I've seen this year.

LOL at seeing 'Phantoms', Ben Affleck at his worst....that was 98 right, I remember that shyt, I saw 'Bats' in the theater, and what was the other one with a fukking sea monster....

agree with Scitt Pilgrim, Kick Ass and Drive.
Vicki Cristina Barcelona, Whatever Works, Change Up, Black Dynamite

movies like Eternal Sunshine & Lost In Translation tend to fall into this.

Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist and Adventureland.

My on/off hipster chick brought them over at different times and i thought they'd be both indie trash, they probably are to most but I enjoy them and have a soft spot for these two movies.. Maybe from the times when we saw em... I don't know, but there's something about them.

'Adventureland' is def a good mention, I saw that in theaters, from the previews I thought it was a lighter comedy, not like 'Suberbad', but something like it, but I read Michael Phillips review, which was saying it was in the vein of 80's classic teen/coming of age movies, and saw it, one of my favorite movies of the last 5 years, bought it and everything, still watch it once or twice a year.
