i see you, you must be from houston. thats the only semi logical reason you could make a ridiculous statement such as the bolded. but hey, trolls gone troll. :troll:

im from philly actually. and whats so ridiculous about what I said?

are h-town's 1st 2 albums not classic all a sudden?

are jodeci's 1st 2 albums not half-meh anymore?

Co-sign. Ain't no way in hell H-Town could be ranked on the same tier as Jodeci... whether it's hits, awards, video, vocals, style, albums, sales etc. There is just no way. H-town wasn't anything special besides a few singles. Most would say they were Jodeci rip offs, and got away with it (unlike Dru Hill).

If we were to list the top 10 male r&b groups/bands of the New Jack Swing Era/1990's, H-Town would barely crack the top 10 (or may not even make top 10) from an overall point of view.

I never said they were ranked on the same tier as jodeci or boyz II men. its impossible for h-town, silk or any of those other groups to be on the same tier as them seeing that they didn't have the same thing at their reserves. hits, awards, videos, sales. but you f*cked up when you threw albums & vocals in the mix. that's some bullchit. especially the albums part.

how in the hell were they jodeci ripoffs?

just say you don't like them niccas. lol. this is getting ridiculous.

This thread made me realize, Dru Hill was the last of the r&b singing group to really carry the torch. Although, Sisqo flamboyancy was out of hand, he could sing with the best of them :yeshrug:

We're Not Making Love No More - YouTube

Dru Hill - Beauty - YouTube

:ohlawd:

Sisqo was like the Boy Geore and George Michael's of R&B :skip:

no question was supposed to carry the torch in 2000 but their deal was wack. same label that dropped the ball on major figgas. same city/same summer as well.:damn:

I was there when they filmed the original video for this. the one that aired on the box:

bro call me crazy. but to me, boyz 2 men had the better bedroom jams. while jodeci had the better love /marriage/.

boyz 2 men- 50 candles, uhh ahh, ill make love to you, lonely heart(that intro with mike talking is killer)

jodeci- forever my lady, love u for life, all my life(not a jodeci song but still gotta put it up there)

this is a very good post, and it went overlooked.

people get too caught up in the on-stage pelvic thrusts & mannerisms. and so what? bobby brown & them were doing that chit back in the '80s. then people want to credit jodeci for changing r&b fashion. I guess they never heard of bell biv devoe.

and truth be told, jodeci's music didn't get raunchy until their 3rd & final album. they dropped "freakin you" in '95 after the ladies done already been freaked out by silk, h-town, intro and all these other groups. but jodeci had a machine. and in retrospect, the only videos we get to see on some throwback chit are usually jodeci's. they don't play those other groups' freaky videos all like that anymore. so of course, jodeci is going to get alot of unwarranted credit. that's why im trying to open the dialogue up some more by adding other groups in the mix.

and really, all that nasty r&b nicca chit goes back to dudes like keith sweat & aaron hall. not no jodeci.

jodeci wasn't doing songs like this until '95. hell, that whole "come & talk to me remix" video was a play on this, if you want to be really real.

They had different audiences, you gotta just compare Jodeci to h town and boys 2 men to az yet and call it a day.

good point.

apples-n-oranges.

Probably been said, but Boyz II Men. They should still be relevant on the radio today but like back then but that whole RnB Thug shyt really hurt their stride.

nah. I cant agree with this.

boyz II men played themselves out by being too sappy, and then repetitive on top of that. they just flat-out stopped jamming.

this is why I say they were always best on biv 10. I wish they never left. the mantra was not-too-hard/not-too-soft. and they had fresher production. I was never a fan of the laface sound at all. I still respect that II album tho.

Boyz II Men had the most hits, most sales and their music is timeless. Don't get me wrong, I like Jodeci and. H town and Silk were cool but they weren't Jodeci/BoyzIImen league. Jodeci is right there, they got the songs and Classic and Kci and JoJo had a decent solo career But I gotta give it to Boyz to Men. "II" is the best album by all the groups mentioned. "Cooley High Harmony" is also a Classic. They have so many timeless songs and all those dudes can sing. This wasn't about one strong singer with 3 other back up singers. Every person in BoyzIImen could blow period. This was my joint in high school:

Wacky D lost for thinking anybody cared about H-Town as much as he does.

lol @ this dude carrying grudges over from another thread.

no, YOU lost for thinking that people cared about shai as much as you do.....and I was somewhat of a shai fan, for the record.

more importantly, I already explained why I added h-town and silk to the mix. you didn't read that because you were too busy stumbling in here, bussin your gun at the ceiling.:o: otherwise, you wouldn't be making such a silly statement.

the only thing I lost at was thinking that it would open up more dialogue for actual song & album comparisons. but a number of people stuck to contradictory arguments instead.

Jodeci

Boyz II Men was a lil too commercial for my taste.

I gotta admit, though....That End Of The Road track takes me back to my childhood like no other:to:
