I also think him trying to branch out of the neo-soul box kinda turned some folks off as the music became more abstract after the 1st album so to some they might not be able to digest easily.

Mustard Island
Arguably my favorite male singer
I'm not sure dude is underrated though. My friend wife was fresh off the boat from Botswana and she was telling me her favorites song is Sometimes by Bilal, which is an album cut I believe. Even my mom , who doesn't really follow modern RnB like that knows his catalog.
Considering his issues with drugs and being the "original Lauryn Hill" missing shows and showing up 3 hours late high and stuff i think he's properly rated

I got two i'll put on that list also...
Rahsaan Patterson and Eric Roberson
The MAIN reason i think Rahsaan aint make it more was the fact of him being a full blown gay dude (pause).. when i was younger, i had know idea dude was gay. I guess this video should have told me.. lol @ him singing about a woman :mjlol:

Dude makes good music and vocally is a beast on the album or live

Rahsaan Patterson is HELLA underrated. That man can really sing too. After Hours is one of my favorite R&B albums of the past 30 years too.
